Voiding Warranty

S

scottyboy1972

Hi, this may be a stupid question, but if you dont use a renault dealer for car maintenace does that void your 3 year warranty?

For example , fitting new brake pads at local garage, and things like that?

Nope, due to a change in the law (anti monopoly related) Dealers legally cannot revoke or refuse warranty work on the car, i think the only stipulation is that the parts used are genuine or of OE quality. If the part or work carried out is proven to be at fault then they can refuse otherwise not.

u know a sh!tload bout this. how is this?

Work in the trade, theres plenty of info about "block exemption" on the net just type it into google and it it will normally find something with all the ins and out. The DTI site would probably be good to look at too.

As long as genuine renault parts are used, other work carried out on your car by a vat registered garage will not void your warrenty.

as long as you get all the paperwork and bits that go with it, then your o.kay. My 172 CUP wasnt done at a dealer, but at a local renault approved garage.

  Lots of Alfas

Does the same apply if you service the car yourself like changing oil and replacing the filters with new renault ones?
