Volvo Love

Few of you know, I have a massive thing for volvos after owning these

86 745GL - one owner, 175k on the clocks, and 195k on the clocks when i sold it, never broke down and everything worked on it, and took it round the ring a few times.

then i had

52 plate Volvo C70GT, one of the last mk1s built, 45k on the clocks, 1 owner, and a rare manual, in a rare colour loved it, but barely ever drove it. stupidly traded it for my clio

now back in a volvo daily due to our astra dying after 4 years use, and its this

2000 V40XS, 175k on the clocks, 2 previous owners, but no heated seats

and these are some I really really want

C70s are lovely, no doubt, so many s**t ones out there though.

the new C70 was what i was aiming for next, but theyre still out of my price range, so may end up with a 340 or 360 if i can ever sell the clio

The C70 is certainly a handsome car, but you need a reality check on the others you've had.

I would love a 145, a later '70s model but with the earlier look. Something like this would be lovely, but they are very difficult to find in the UK. But still, a great entry level classic when you can buy them for £2k.

740 was a fun bus. rwd, comfy as hell, and great for doing 100 miles a day in commuting.

v40, came up from a mate of mine, needed a car quick, and it was the right price. it wont stay forever, if i ever get paid from work, the wife wants an XC70

However I do have a thing for Volvos (for some reason) the new S80 looks great and would like an S60R.

Are they really that reliable? are parts not expensive?

Parts aint cheap, if looked after, yeh. My 200k mile 740 was still on its original clutch! The lad i soldit to still had it at 220k still going strong.

Looking at the history of my v40, its just had normal servicing, and thats it! Needs a new rear caliper as the handbrake me h. Fails, but got one off ebay for 11 quid.

S60Rs are stunning, and barking mental! Vovo described them as a 4 door coupe rather than a saloon though

I had an Auto S80 diesel as a lease car, it had done 278,000 miles, still on the same clutch and box, and it drove better than my Mini that has done a fraction of that mileage.

wanted a 940 front end on my 740, but a company car forced me to sell it the old 7 & 9 series are rather large cars when your drive aint that big!!!

I have an 850 T5. Brilliant. Going to sell it soon as my 172 is all but finished, and I don't need a tow car anymore really as I've just had a transit recovery made available

I'm on my third one and have done decent miles in each. Ironically my 11plate V50 has just let me down today, which is first time one has and no doubt my hire car will crap:dapprove:. I've had:

53 plate S40 2.0D Sport Lux
09 plate S40 2.0D R-Design
11 plate V50 D4 R-Design

Customer service is usual great, parts canbe pricey as is dealer servcing. I am not sure I would buy a new one with my own cash, used they make a great buy.

one of my best mates is volvo mad. He has a c30 his dad an x90 and a t5 or 6 s80 between them

The father is one of the directors of the volvo club....boring you may think, but as well as them getting free tickets to goodwood, classic car show etc polestar invited them to all paid for trip to sweden

They arrive and were told they could test any car below on the volvo test track

Were taken out and also driven in the volvo polestar concept and given a photographer to follow them around

and apprently they have been invited back to sweden this year. mental
