Vtec problem

Basically im getting no pull when getting to 5000rpm onwards, it is quite sluggish. Am I right in thinking it is something to do with the Vtec? Car is a 55 182.

Clio's do not have vtec, or anything similar its due to the cam profiles. There is a cam shifter that changes the duration etc but hat switches on at around 1800 rpm. if its only higher up the rev range your having problems its something else. could be anything from a blocked cat to knackered leads etc etc
