RB 182 Cup
After volunteering to help I was assigned the task of trying to get my sister-in-laws heavily oxidised, [and I mean HEAVY] P-Reg VW Polo back into some sort of credible condition. The idea was to try and make it look decent enough to advertise and sell quickly, as she'd just bought a new car.
Started yesterday lunchtime. Brother-in-law Paul had made sure the car was washed and shampoo'd in the morning so it was dry and clean to get cracking on straight away. We knew we had some work ahead of us.
When I arrived i was greeted with this
As you can see, any shine that the car used to have had gone, barring the front o/s door.
We put the car in the garage and started by using Megs Quik Clay and Last Touch diluted 1:1 as lube. This got rid of the rough surface amplitude quite quickly.
We then hooked up the pc and after testing used a 6" SFX white finishing pad and Menz IP to try and get some colour and shine back.
Some decent 50:50's
More than happy that this was giving the right results, we completed the bonnet and moved on the roof. Just as bad, no shine, pink as you like!:dapprove:
Carrying on thro into the evening, we moved the car outside to get the doors and wings done until light fell, then moved back into the garage to attack the boot.
All polishing completed last night and buffed up, we set out this morning to seal our good work Product of choice was AG EGP, knowing that two layers would provide us with a durable finish. Steel wheels were cleaned up with AG E&M Cleaner, arches same, then tyres treated with AG Instant Tyre dressing. Trim/ bump strips were also dressed with AG ITD
Anyway, hope you like the finished article, more to follow.
