Warranty Question

I have a 172 cup. Im taking it into reanult tommorow as i have a few probs with it. I have both front and rear strut braces fitted to my clio. Will this affect my warranty?

If your head unit is broke, then no, if your suspension is playing up, then yes might likely!

See my logic?

Suspension bushes with strut brace mods - I don't think they'll accept a warranty claims Just replace them yourself. As for the exhaust - as long as its standard, no probs but depends how old it is. Its only warrantied for 1 year.

The whole car is warrentied for 3 years.

Im sure they will try to tell you it is wear and tear! But alot of it is down to you relationship with your dealer. I had the front brake pads and disks replaced on my other clio at 18000 under warrenty!

If you blow the engine in the first year its covered but after that its not. There are many if's and but's to your warranty mate as darthcake said, read the small print. Not everything is covered...

Indeed it is wear and tear. I would only imagine you get front brake pads and disks replaced under warranty if there was a defect with them that was caused by a non-wear and tear part, e.g. caliper etc.

Of course an individuals relationship with the dealer is relative but to say the entire car is covered for 3 years under warranty is not true and it says so quite clearly when you purchase the car.

Year 1 - Car is fully covered by Renault UK
Year 2 - Warranty is supported by Renault Dealership Network
Year 3 - Warranty is supported by Renault Dealership Network

Years 2 and 3 exclude wear and tear components.

Renault dealers claim the cost of repairs back from Renault for all the years of the warently so the dealer has to be sure they'll get paid. Otherwise the dealer will have done the work and won't get paid. Thats whay they don't like mods as they maybe to blame hence they won't gget paid back.
All parts (within reason) are returned to Renault Uk for analysis of the failure if its failed due to a mod (difficult to argue) then they may refuse to pay.

I thought it was the first two years covered by Renault then the final year covered by the dealers.

As far as I recall mate, its 1 year by Renault and 2 by the dealer network. Bit of a pain really considering how rubbish they are.

I seem to be saying this to often, but darthcake is right with regards to the warranty cover.

Also they are unlikely to replace suspension bushes as these would be classed as wear and tear items, even if it is a little premature for these to be worn. However, take the braces off to be sure.... only a 10min job. I would question the exhaust as well if your in year three.. not gaurantees on that one...

Must be different to what my stuff said on the Cup then.. maybe they've changed it for 182's..... I got my Cup back in 2002 (52 plater) and that was definately 1 year Renault, 2 years dealer. :(

as was my 172.....

dunno about the 182 as it was inside its first year... so havent got the foggiest.
