Washer bottle keeps emptying!

I filled my windscreen washer bottle the other day and havent used it for a few days because the weather has been dry and this morning when I went to use it nothing squirted out and when I checked the bottle it looked empty. I filled it right up and I could see the level was slowly reducing so it looks like I have joined the bunch of "cracked washer bottle" people.

I searched for messages about this but nothing showed up! Is this covered by warranty and is it quick to do please guys? Isnt it typical Renault, as it looks like it is underneath stuff than needs to come out before you can get to it, unless it is reached from underneath. I looked at my hubbys washer bottle in his car and it sits under the bonnet with loads of space around it, unlike my cramped looking engine area, which looks like parts have to be removed before anything can be worked on!

No wonder mechanics HATE working on Clios!! ;)

yup very common takes about 2 hours to do under warranty
How is it removed? From underneath the car or from the engine bit? It is underneath some bits of metal which looks like it needs to come out first!!

had mine change the other month. they have to take the wipers off and the black plastic trim. As said before takes roughly 1 hour. Seems a common fault with them.

mines going in on Thursday for the very same thing!!

I asked if I could wait with the car (thinking it wouldnt take too long) but was told it would take a couple of hours as dogmaul said they have to remove the plastic trim (scuttle) thingy to actually get to the bottle.

I double checked with them and it is done under warranty!!

(theres a couple of threads http://forum.cliosport.net/search.asp?search=washer+bottle&searchMode=allwords&searchIn=Topic&forum=2&searchDate=ap&searchSort=dateDESC&Submit=Start+Searchhere on the same problem)

i waited the first time for mine, only to find out that they had the wrong one!! second time I left the car there for 1/2 a day.

All done on warrenty, but the car was only 2 months old.

Had mine replaced also but mine was leaking out through one of the headlight washer jets so had to have a new pump and non return valve, just so they were sure they cured the problem All under warranty. Took about 1 hour.

Having refilled my washer bottle yesterday at 5pm, I found this morning there was no water in the washers, so I have just phoned my nearest Renault, which is Reg Vardy, and as is usual with them, I got a not very nice, bit aggressive sounding service guy, who says it may not be a problem that is covered by warranty!

According to Hugh a washer bottle leaking water can be caused by any number of problems which arent always covered by warranty and that I would have to book it in for them to do an inspection. They would then send a report to Renault to check whether or not they will pay to get it fixed!! Apparently I cant get it booked in until the end of the month!!

When the previous dealer Abercromby looked after Renaults, they were a really nice friendly crowd and would have been able to get it looked at quicker than two weeks! I didnt like the sound of the aggressive Hugh!! I told them that I would get back to them later.

Any other people been to Reg Vardy Edinburgh?

I have just phoned what i thought was going to be the Renault dealer at Sighthill on the west side of Edinburgh and didnt realise that they are also Reg Vardy now!! Have the Reg Vardy monkeys taken over everywhere? :(

I have decided not to bother going into Edinburgh to get it fixed because the dealer said they would need my car for TWO FLIPPING DAYS!! No way am I leaving it with them for TWO DAYS just to fit a washer bottle!!

*** I am assuming that the washer bottle is the problem, because I have just filled it and I can see the dripping water when I look between the tyre and wheel arch and underneath the car is wet. When I tried the wipers and washers they worked OK front and back screens, but on turning on the lights the front bumper was dry, so it looks like the lights washers dont work.... ***

Does the last paragraph *** lead anyone to think it is something more than the washer bottle???

I have just spoken to my local garage who said that the bottle only costs £16.54 plus VAT so they will order it and fit it for free for me. :D GOOD LADS!! Some chocolate eclairs will be heading their way!!

WHERE IS BOB RTE THESE DAYS as he would know about these problems??!!
