I was on one of the first missions last night - I got so confused with which camera led to where I just went in all guns blazing - got killed and went to bed.

Not impressed with this so far, nor was Titanfall as good as anticipated. Forza got boring fast. So glad I bought this console at launch for to see them fall in price so quickly, too.

TBH that might not be the best way to see if a game is good or not lol. AK didn't enjoy it at first but got into it with a little more play. The cover/gunfights work really well imo...nipping around corners while still in cover popping up dropping someone then nipping back into cover is something that GTA could never get near. The camera system works well too. Use them to scan the area which will make any bag guys show up through walls which makes it much easier to sneak in

Started this today.
Seems OK, there's a lot to take in with controls etc but I think I'll pick it up soon enough.
Driving isn't great!

The driving physics won't be getting ported over to Forza any time soon but they are nowhere near as bad as some people made out earlier on in the thread.

I've just got to mop up some of the collectables such as QR codes and city hotspots but the rest of the game has been pretty enjoyable tbh, I'd give it 7~7.5/10 maybe. Not exactly GTA V but then again not a lot even comes close.

I'd say it definitely hasn't lived up to the hype though.

I'm just doing the side missions now but I have loved it tbh. Even the driving isn't too bad once you get used to it and I think it is more down to the way the camera sways about behind the car that makes them feel even less responsive (I remember when GTA came out people kicking off about how shite the cars handled as well)

I love the stealth aspect of it and really enjoy tring to sneak into the gang hideouts, take out the target and sneak back out with no major issues Leon style!

That whole stuff about reactiving the disabled settings in the game is really kicking off now. Just google "watch dogs pc" news and its littered with articles such as:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkai...wngrade-graphics-files-in-watch-dogs-pc-code/
If performance issues were the problem and reason for the final downgrade, then it’s safe to say that the earlier version shouldn’t have been demoed to begin with. If parity was the ultimate goal, same thing applies. So either way, the fundamental problem here is that games are being advertised one way and delivered another. Even with perfectly legitimate reasons for a downgrade, this smacks of false advertising even if that wasn’t the intention.

Will Ubisoft pull the same stunt with the recently showcased Assasins Creed Unity?

Yep - just been reading stuff like this myself. It does seem very bizarre on the face of it - and the fact that Ubi isn't bowling over themselves to explain it. Surely they would know that the games' engine would be closely looked into within a very short space of time?

There's nothing out of the ordinary here to be fair... it's how things have always been done. As far as I am aware the high-fidelity settings shown in the earlier demo were dumbed down a little after testing across multiple hardware setups yielded too many performance issues. Hence, they played it safer and made efforts to have the game work better across a wider spread of configurations. I don't think it would be in the developer / publisher interest to dumb down the visuals deliberately on the PC platform when it's already a given that a high-end PC will always lead the way in the visual / performance stakes. Demos aren't always indicative of the final product either. On all the games I worked on, our brief for any E3 demo was to polish it and make it shine; add visual gloss, more effects, etc. Very often the final game looked somewhat different. That's why generally there's always a disclaimer stating that the demo is 'a work in progress and may not be representative of the final product'. Whether or not this is a good thing or a bad thing, the truth is it's been going on for years and will continue to do so. I just can't understand the 'uproar' as we aren't really seeing anything new here.

But that is in essence exactly what they have done Sharky. They have removed the "best" settings from the PC release, when the very nature of PC gaming means there will always be a variety of hardware platforms to cater for; I cant think of any other game that has deliberately capped itself because "well we dont want it to run badly so lets remove X, Y and Z to be safe". I can understand games that dont have the time/resources to provide these "best" settings in the first place ontop of their console equivilants, but the very fact they have gone out of their way to showcase the game running on these "best" settings and then remove them on purpose completely stinks!

I got bored after the first sequence, watching paint dry has more of a story to it than this game. Haven't gone near it in about three weeks.

I'm just f**king about on this at the moment. Probably should have done the campaign first though because my reputation is really bad. Police are getting called a lot due to people recognising me.
Shouldn't have gone on all of those killing sprees!

+1

I played it the night I bought it, and haven't toughed it since.

I'm pretty annoyed that the PC version has been crippled. I appreciate Sharky's thoughts and comments, but as a fan of PC gaming, it's very difficult not to expect that the non-console engine would incorporate scaling for top-dollar PC machines. Regardless of what he says (and of course I do appreciate his input), it's almost impossible for me not to feel that this game was downgraded with the sole intention of marketing purposes.

'Next-gen'. Do me a favour. Better looking games at higher resolutions that go some way to catching up with what PC hardware was doing in 2008. Typical marketing bullshit. Understandable and perhaps justifiable, but it ain't fooling me ;)

No worries - that's a fair comment mate. I perhaps didn't word my post so well as ultimately I, too, am annoyed that it was released in a 'lesser' form. I guess the point I was trying to make was that the game (as far as I am aware) had an 'executive' decision made to release it with 'lesser' settings to avoid numerous issues that they were having with ultra-spec settings. I believe it was an attempt to avoid a massive backlash of problems on release day due to incompatibilities and problems when everybody cranked up the details settings to see the game in all it's glory (as seen per the demo earlier in it's development phase). I don't think it's right but having been on the dev-side of the fence I can see why that decision may have been made.

Just finished the campaign, quite enjoyed it too.
Need to go and to the side missions though.

Didn't think it was graphically brilliant, some nice scenes with the rain etc but overall I was a bit disappointed.
I imagine it would look stunning on a high spec pc without any restrictions.

  Nippy white cup
True although they are next gen interms of consoles not PC's. Look at the early games on the 'last gen' consoles and compare them to the current games and there is no doubt these are next gen and will get much better as time goes by...but they will never catch up with pc's which are out of date pretty quickley unless you spend a fair bit pretty often to keep up with technology

Compared to the likes of GTA it looks like it was made by a backstreet gaming company in Russia.

I thought it was good but so repetitive, every mission ended the same way. Sold it on eBay before completing it

I just cant see it myself.....things like the distance you can see for example is so much better on watchdogs (without the blockyness) imo as is the lighting and all at a higher res. There is no denying that GTAV was a major achievement on the 360/ps3 but I think watchdogs bodes well once they get some time with the consoles.

  A SHED!
Mate lent me this, yea its very bland. Graphics are poor for the hype and the main character has as much personality as a stone. I'll plod on with it as it could get better?

I think I read it gets a bit better towards the end, if you make it that far that is.

Got this in the PS4 Bundle today, done a few missions and so far not impressed at all.

I reckon I'll stick it up for sale, feels like an old game when the xbox 360 was first released.

  A SHED!
I'm little further into the game now. It's grown on me abit. I may be stupid for asking but can you shoot when driving a car etc? Can't figure out how to do it? Being a r****d probably.

Haven't played it in a while but I bought a season pass for it so does anyone know what dlc is coming out for the game are there any new missions?

  Nippy white cup
Nope.

It makes no sense.

I was a bit annoyed at first but it doe make sense really...can't imagine bombing through traffic with one hand out the window....you can online if you are a passenger tho.

I've loved it tbh but I think when I have done all the side missions I'll probably chop it in...the online bit is pretty good but not enough to do apart from muck about which is great at first but does get boring after a while

I've just been looking for easter eggs and glitches in free roam with mates.

We've found a fair few buildings that you can jump into using bikes! More recently we've started using a fire engine and the first car from the list that you can order (looks like a fiat 500). have someone drive the small car to a wall that you can vault over and slam into them as fast as you can with the fire engine... enjoy the ride in the car! Goes for miles.

It's ok if you can look past the sometimes sub par voice acting and the bugs if you're playing on PC. The world can feel a little empty sometimes though in terms of things to do
