water pump

Has anybody come across waterpump bolts on a 1*2 have to be rethread to stop a leak after a new pump has been fitted

well i would asume this too looking at a cheap 182, the owner has been told after the garage fitted a new pump the holes need rethreading as it still leaks and they need to take engine out to do it

All I can think is that it leaked due to them using a crap gasket or not cleaning the old one off properly before refitting, so they've tried to tighten the bolts more than they should have to stop the leak but ending up stripping the threads. I would have thought the bolts would have knackered before the thread in the block though, their tiny little bolts.
