Water Testing On My Car :(

  1.6 16v
I rang renault up yesterday and told them about the leak on the front two pillers when it rains. It runs down the front pillers and leaves the floor went :(

It goes in on the 27th for extensive water testing. They said it could be in the garage for two weeks!!!! :( depending on whats wrong and if it needs to go to the bodyshop.

Its still in its warranty and i dont really want to pay for the repairs but they said that if they think that my modifications have caused the leak they will make me pay :( Would wheels, suspension, exhaust and tints have caused this leak?? I dont think they have but i just want your opinions because i dont want to pay for the repairs! lol

Its a Mk2 Phase 3 clio on a 04 plate!

Cheers steve

water test will take 5mins..... just holding a hose over the problem area ( no pressure in the water ) then a new door seal ten mins max..... just check it your self. check for dry spots... if theres any treat them with some product from halfords... rubber treatment sprays n the such

Thats what i was thinking!!! I just hope its a seal or somthing because its running through my fuse box :(

Why would they need to take it to the bodyshop??

warrenty of the car door seals will only be affected by some sort of mod tot ehactual seal.... tints arnt part of the door-to-body seal...so if they say they are there bullshitting.

they should do it under warrenty, as wheels, suspension, tints has no relavance to the water leaking from the seals.

i hate renault service..

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
yer the extra heat from the new exhaust thins the air around the car, water can travel faster once its in this "thin zone" hiting the car and its seals faster causing it to leak....mmm i should work for renault

there taking the piss mate.

tell them to sort it now!

these people think every thing is sorted out by 'getting it up on the ramps' lol so if its some thing else its ... 'it'll have to go to the body shop'.....there clueless honestly..... it will be covered in warrenty.

Its wired tho. I can wash the car and leave the hose over the problem areas and then check for water and there is none! :) But when it rains and i am not driving it, lets say leave it over night or in a car park while shopping it leaks! :(

I cant understand it. i thought it might of been the windscreen so i sealed that it the top myself and it still does it. Its been doing it for 3 months now.

if its going to your fuse box it will be the door to body seal, mine has started to do it, on a morning my rubber is rock hard from the cold, mid day its softened up. am not saying this is for deffinate but it was with mine.

anything you have seal yourself.. get it off before they inspect it.

yeah ^^^ make sure any sealent you have used is removed as they will fook you off for attempting to fix it your self...

they may blame the tints, certainly the other stuff can't have effected it. But if the person doing the tints has damaged a seal.......

the tints were done 2 weeks ago! The leak has been there 3 months. Renault had better not blame the tints!!! :(

Climate can give probs if drain is blocked, try taking door seals off & refit them.

Is it not leaking throught the bottom of the door card my 172 did this, 20mins to fix with sealant.

no it seems to be coming in from the roof area on the left hand side and its done it once on the right hand side. All of the roof liner is wet where the handle is and up to the piller (which the rain runs down!!)

Its pissing it down now so i bet it will be wet when i go to it! :(

It will be the sunroof seals its not that difficlt to fix depends what they have to do sounds like they want to try one fix then if it doesn't work try another one.

The dealership has to claim the money back from Renault and Renault won't pay up if a seals broken due to somehting you caused on the car ie bad workmanship so its only fair they are warning you.

So do you think that the modifications i have done would of caused this seal to break?? Only asking your opinion. I dont think that they would of.

To change a seal wouldnt take that long would it??

cheers steve

Not to a degree they can blaim them for realy if it was your side windows ie the one which where tinted I could well undertand them not bothering even saying the word warently with you as it would be your problem.

A whole new replacement sunroof is a few hours to fit thats all new seals if its still leaking them you've got something seriously wrong pourous roof but that unlikly.

Nw sunroof seals should fix it and thats a warently issue for to fix the creaking anayway so not a thing Renault would question paying for.
