weekend Nightmare

I have just got back from a weekend away. Three days late.

The trip down to Somerset usually takes no more than three hours, but on Friday, thanks to my 182, it took over 7 hours.

A dodgy temperature sensor caused my gauge to read cold, tricked the engine into thinking it was cold, applying the choke on a warm engine and hence flooding it until it choked itself to death.

Brilliant.

Luckily, although having to wait for a good couple of hours, Renault Assistance came to the rescue and towed me to the dealership near where I was heading.

Having phoned ahead they told me there was no way that they could look at it on Saturday, but would check it Monday. I explained to a technician exactly what was wrong with it.

Phoned them Monday afternoon and they hadnt looked at it. Brilliant again. Phoned them Tuesday midday and they said they had looked at it and that it would need a new temperature sensor which they had ordered. Had I not explained that already and given that information you would have thought they would have given it a quick check and ordered the part on Monday.

Just a bit of lateral thinking is all thats required.
