Weird problem (assurance or advice wanted)

  Black 182 FF
Over the last few weeks I've barely used my 182 and last week it stood for 6 days. This week I've been using it for work again, but you're only talking a 6 mile round trip each day with the CD, heater, lights etc on.

About an hour ago I went to the cashpoint, I left the lights and fog light on and when I came back the car started straight away as usual, then died (at this point the heaters, lights, fog lights and CD player would have been on). Then I tried to start again and it kinda started and died straight away. It did the same again and the next two times it didn't really do anything and at this point I noticed a kind of electrical/whirring/clicking noise - but not from the engine itself, seemingly from within the dash.

I then turned off the lights, heater, CD player, gave it a minute and tried again and it was fine again. Since then I ran it without the CD player, heater blowing etc and it's started and ran fine since - I'm not new to cars, but I'm pretty green when it comes to Clios, so does this sound like I've simply worn the battery down or could it be something a bit worse?

Oh and twice in the last few days the car was open when I got back to it, seemingly unlocked itself.

I also smelt a very strong burning smell coming back from work tongiht - like burning rubber, but it hasn't been there since, I think it was the village I was travelling through, but I'm a paranoid wreck when I smell anything like that.

Similar probs, left it for 3 weeks. Just started driving it again, and the rev counters all over the shop and the demister turns itself off. Must be damp.
