Went to look at a 200

  Volvo XC60 T8
Just back from viewing a RB 200:

http://www.oaktreemotorcompany.com/...-renaultsport-200-3dr-cwmbran-201214461723485

Pretty disappointed tbh, one odd tyre, paintwork cleaned with a brillo pad, dead read discs and the wheels were heavily stone chipped.

Are the stone chips common on the standard 200 alloys? All of the spokes were missing huge amounts of paint :(

Couldn't test drive it because it was in the showroom and an RS4 was blocking it in.
Scared the hell out of the salesman when I started it up though, he didn't quite get the idea of keyless entry...

That one won't be so bad after a refurb and a nice detail.

As Steve said take a look on 197.net. ;)

Have a look on 200.net mate.

There's a few rough examples about in local independent dealers. Avoid.

I'd be speaking with Steve @ R-Sport if you're not buying new.

Yeah, it's useful for info but nothing else.

It's like a morgue. Throw a bit of banter or an opinion around and you'll get eyes rolling.

Lol. Its just to keep the cretins that ruin this place (CS.net) in check. Thats all. And no doubt you think that as you are (relatively speaking) a big fish on here, yet on 197.net, your just another member?

Back on topic, when buying of car forums, remember most people tend to ask for a little bit more than the car is actually work.

Nah, it's nothing to do with that. It's just very, very quiet.

If you don't like something that someone's posted and you bring it up; you're the wrong one for bringing it up.

It's good for info though.

As a rubbish continuation of this thread, I went to look at a 197 cup today to see just how comfy the standard seats are.

Very comfy. But f**k me, I have sat in boxes more well equipped than that! Was also up for £10,495.

The dealer also made me laugh when he said 'I don't think you can insure that, we have some nice puntos over there'
:(

I'm just looking at ones closest to me/on the way home from work. Might pop along to Renault and see if they'll actually let me drive one!

I've had that in the past. I find it very patronising. "you won't get insurance", "no chance on that lad" etc.

How about a polite question as to whether I already had an insurance quote. That would be much better.

+1 had that a few times myself as has my Mrs's that went in to a dealer looking at a clio & said to the salesman she liked them because I had one, the saleman asked what model I had and when the mrs's told him he said you must be mistaken I very much doubt he could afford one at his age let alone insure it lol. What a shaft, these people have no idea what anyone can afford/insure bit wrong for them to make that assumption.

Until they are out of warranty and worn out/knakered

They're not as bad as everything seems to think. The ones in the 197 were a different material and did wear a little worse. Mine had still done around 60k and were only just starting to look a little fury! The 200 ones are a slippier material and look like they'll wear less.

Cars with Recaros are actually pretty rare if you look around at what's for sale. I guess them being almost a grand on the 200 compared to £800 on the 197 must have something to do with that. Common on here though, due to all the high rollers.

LOL ^ they are terrible for wear and generally falling to bits.

They're only bad if you rub your fat arse over them when getting in and out. LOL Mine were fine with over 60k of pretty hard use, and the ones in my 200 are even better. Just lift your arse when getting in and out, or buy one with normal seats which you can slide in and out of. If you park somewhere where you have to squeeze in and out of the car then it's best not to get them.

20k posts! Sad that 19k of those were probably in my first few years on here. LOL

Ive got getting in and out down to a fine art... But it pains me when people slide into my passenger seat lol. And I don't want to say 'don't damage the bolster' lol or I risk sounding like an uber geek ha.

My gfs nan got in them the other day and when my girlfriend said 'will you be ok getting into the seats' she replie with 'ofcourse! I've got in clios before!' lol!

But the way she got in  it was like she was diving off a boat! She sat on the bolster and just jumped back lol! I could've cried

I sometimes give a couple of the lads from work a lift home. I cringed the other day when one of them dragged himself over them, with his coat and bag. I can't bring myself to say anything though.

My nan has to do the same. I usually have to help her out these days. My parents are better, thankfully.

They really are amazing seats, but if you regularly have passengers (which I don't) they can be a pain in the arse. Some people comment how great they are, others just moan they can't get in or out of the car. LOL

+1

My 197 cup has nearly 40k and they still look fine, no sign of wear.

Fat people, the seats are telling you something ;)

Went to Renault cardiff on friday, they had 5 used 200's and none of them had any options except one with cup pack. Pauper spec all over.

  Fiesta ST200
That's the first thing people ask me about my 200. I'm 19 and people just go 'how is your insurance on that?'. Annoying.

Don't settle for what you don't want mate. I will say the standard seats are very supportive. At first I wanted recaros but test drove one with standards and loved them. It's personal preference.

i made someone from work sit in the back because i didnt want her sitting her fat arse in my recaro, i told her it was broken so no one could sit in it.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Its simple really-

If the bolster is shot in warranty repair it-

If its out of warranty your paying £150 into an ~7/8k car- its peanuts

or spend £45 at capitol seating for a proper recaro cover

anyone who was witnessed me get in and out my car will see how paranoid i am about my recaros, yet they are starting to wear a tiny bit already right at the but yer bum hits, this is obviously my old dear climbing in and out 2 or 3 times a week if shes moving it out the drive, this is not what id call fair wear and tear! i can see a warranty fight comeing up soon! (again!!)
