(2nd from bottom)

The car looked mint inside and out and drove really nice. Only thing was that when it started and revved it made a loud screaching noise!

Me not knowing anything about cars, I was wondering if you guys could give me a heads up on what the problem might be and how much it would cost?

Im thinking fan belt?

Cheers guys.

Not fan belt (there isn't one) but the AUX belt is almost definatly the screaching noise.
Cant see a garage charging more than £50 to replace one............I changed it on mine but when the engine was out of the car so can't comment on how much room there is.

Thats is a very expensive valver though. Get him to throw in a AUX belt change with the car.

but you'll save yourself thousands in modds that you will end up doing to the valver.

Try elephant and admiral for insurance. It normally cheapest for me.

Things I personally would always check if buying a valver -
Rust especially on the back arches and the drain holes in the boot lid
Gearbox and cluth, make sure you drive it hard and see if it jumps out of gear at all - its in the region of 300 quid to rebuild the gearbox and new clutch is engine out job so can be very expensive.
Anti roll bar drop link's - the connecting bolt tends to come out of these cars when they are driven fast round corners a lot - they are cheap but a nightmare to get in.
Wheel bearings are a common and engine mounts also.

He's got it for 1500 tho so about average I think for one thats a bit rough round the edges. Theres not many mint ones about now a days.
