Were Is The Speedo Sensor On The 172?

Just Recently Turned Into A Renault Owner After Having A Ford For Many Years.brought The Car With The Speedo Not Workin He Told Me It Needed A New One Which I Did Not Mind Payin Out For.cant Seem To Find The Old One To Replace It, Any Ideas?????????
I Did Find A Connector Were I Think It Was But It Looks Like It Has Been Resting On The Manifold And Has Melted Slightly But No Sensor, Unless Renault Have Givin Me The Wrong One

Upto about 2001 or so the 172's had gearbox sensors its located at the back of the gearbox by the manifold. Later cars got the speed from the wheels sensors/ABS setup.

cup - in the gearbox (it is near the manifold)
normal 172/182&182 cup is abs sensor
172 phase 1 some with a gearbox sensor some with abs sensor
