what are the best upgrade for a 1.2

can you help i wanna pimp my clio, dont really have masses of cash

please can you all help

so far considering lowering 40mm putting 17's on.

Ashley exhaust,

panel filter

tint widows

alarm

spoiler

any other ideas

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
colour code it, slam it with turinis n tints m8, zorst is poo. magnex twin is ok. pannel filter is good

  Golf GTI 1.8T
I would go the same way as ben. subtle is the key ;)

full sports interior too if you can get hold of one. not a fan of exhausts either, so last year!

i looked at powerflow, the cost was about 300 im still thinking about it...

my main problem is deciding size of wheels and dropping the car

Personally I'd get coilvers most importantly and lower as far as you can. Then some Cup or 182 etc alloys on the forum for cheap.

15" or 16" wheels mate dont go for 17" slam it 60mm on an Apex suspension kit with wheels of your choice (id go 16" speedline turinis from a cup) then id get yourself a k-tec relocation kit with pipercross filter, sounds the nuts and gives you a slight bit more power

Agree on the panel filter - put one on my 1.2 Dynamique today (K&N) and makes such an improvement - not sure if it provides any more power but engine sounds smoother and has a bit of roar at higher revs

Keep mods simple as people have said

Examples of what I have done:
- philips bluevision dip/main beam lights
- osram diadem indicator lights blue tint
- painted 16V bullets silver
- clear side repeaters

Little things that make a difference to the car both looks wise, and as far as the lights go, it gives you better vision on the road (as well as looking dope!)

  2002 172
colour code, 172 everything inc bodykit, fox racing evo-3 17", cobra 40mm springs, tints, custom exhaust (quiet).
that would looke minted!

172 body kit, fully colour coded, lowered 60mil onto 16's (which ever u like) cup spoiler. tints if there ur thing. dont think theres anything else u should do.

u will see these in the pics i sent you in reply to your pm mate!

i would go the induction kit route over the pannel filter though, the pannel filter will give you the benefit of the induction kit, but without the full noise!

My clio is lowered 40mm on 16s and have never had a problem with speed bumps, even with people in the back.

if i could i would love to have hydros
No need for Hydo Fred uses custom Fk coilovers.
I think he/Yozzasport sell the lower rear springs you need. The front springs are just normal 2.25 springs so you'd just need to find what spec Fred runs (ie size and lb rates) and Demon Tweeks etc will sell you them for £50 or so off the shelf.

i thought if you just had spring you damage the oe dampers and thats it... surely it would be better to buy shocks and dampers...

Much better to upgrade both people do just used springs and the dampers do last but it will reduce there life and there not the best anyway.

how much should i spend and what should i get
Personally I'd get FK coilovers (~£550 from john2modified etc) then get them set up and the car corner weighed (£120 or so) fit them yourself for free or get the garage doing the corner weight to do ti for £90.
Thats will make the biggest difference to the car I'd personally go down this route before any idea of just dampers and spending money on brakes etc as stock ones are fine.
Is you want to spend some more then get some nice light wheels 15's are a good compromise 16's look better and will give a bit more grip as there bigger tyes) so long as you have a good offset then it will be much better on a bumpy back road as the rotating mass is less so it will grip better.

If you want to spend some more then learn to drive on track by this point you'll probably find the stock brakes aren't lasting so upgrade to 4 pots using the same disks (£400) but it will be more through the fact your needing to bleed the brakes and change pads rarther than fade and better to module brakes you'd upgrade.

You shouldn't have any trouble with the brakes fading if you do best idea is to bleed the sytem with better fluid as the brakes are the same as fitted to the Williams which had 150 hp so a 1.2 with 75hp isn't exactly pushed to its limits. You don't need any harder pads though (I've yet to have probablem with the expensive £17 halford own) but if you do DS2500's are a mid rnage price option but at £80 or so a set there not massively cheap.

is it really worth putting the bigger brake kit on if i go for some bigger wheels
You don't need any more braking even on track if you feel you do you need 4 pots.
The big didk conversion does look good though just not much more power.
