What Brake Discs and Brake Pads?

  Clio Cup 172
Hi

I have recently bought a Renault Clio 172 Cup and wondered if anyone could recommend which Brake Disc and Pads to buy?
I am looking at EBC Green stuff pads front and rear just brake discs I don't know which

Also if anyone could advise 'where' to buy that would be great

Many thanks

Search dude loads of info on this . Alot people on here run brembo discs and ferodo pads which i hear is a
More than what you need unless your on the track , some new brake fluid and braided lines would aid braking alot too

DS2500 pads and Brembo High Carbon discs.

Don't bother with EBC many in here have had bad experiences with them.

Back just use standard, they do literally nothing anyway.

DS2500 pads front and rear, brembo HC front discs, DOT5 fluid and braided lines. Job done. I've been using DS2500 pads on my 172 for the last 2 years and they're superb on the road and for trackdays. EBC aren't that great. The DS2500 pads work straight from cold so ideal for normal driving and stop the car really well. No brake fade at all under hard use. But make sure the fluid gets changed every 2 years as it absorbs water from the atmosphere especially if the car isn't used much.

I did a set of Greenstuff in 5 laps and Im not the heaviest of brakes!!

DS2500s and Brembo HC disks with some nice fluid = win

you can go lots of ways but I went for the k tec uprated discs and pads ! not too much on the budget and does the job ! :)

Put the EBC pads down! lol

I'd rather use 4 Weetabix than these. No joke.
Have you tried any recently?? If your ever local to me give me a shout and come drive my Cup, it'll change your mind.

I'm running Brembo High Carbon Discs and EBC Bluestuff front pads and Yellowstuff rear, Goodridge hoses and Racing Blue Fluid. Before I fitted them the car had cheap Ferrodo (sp) pads and was absolutely frightening in the wet, if a car stopped sharp in front and you had to give any more than moderate pressure on the brakes the fronts would lock and you'd have to avoid the car in front, they were lethal!
Now the car stops incredibly well in all weather and road conditions. There is loads of feel and strong but controlled bite. I absolutely love them and would recommend them to anyone.
I've done one track day so far which was hard on brakes and the wear rate is very good, and even for daily driving they are superb.

I've just replaced the last set of Brembo HC front discs with another set of the same and DS2500 pads. The discs lasted just over four years. I've tried EBC green pads on the back and they're crap. Now got DS2500's all round and Pagid rear discs. The brakes never fade on track or on B roads driving really hard. The rear brakes are much sharper now compared to EBC pads or standard ones.

Why do you have ds2500s on the rear? The rears literally do nothing, a set of £7 pads would be more than suitable. I just run oe spec mintex on the rear.

I have EBC Redstuff in the front and absolutely cant complain about them. They were also amazing on a track, Stelvio etc. So the only issue is a little bit higher price, but definitely worth it.

Don't think I can justify more than double the price than standard items, need to find out whats on there at the moment though as do not want to go back wards!

Just ordered some brembo hc friont discs, ds2500 front pads and some oem rear pads

this month is getting expensive now with cambelt change and rs2 manifold fitting in couple of weeks :S

I am really confused as to why people spend so much money on brake pads for a road car, Brembo OEM pads are perfect for road use.

Carbone loraine rc5+ walk over the ds2500's imo. For a road car standard pads are pretty good tbh

Brembo HC discs and OEM pads is what I have and they are more than good enough for road-use.

Mine were supplied by G172 on here and his service is the best you will find.

This exactly. I would never go back from RC5+

Braided lines and CL fluid and you're on to a complete winner. Don't worry about the rears, only good for the handbrake really! (that's a joke before anyone goes crazy about bias)
