What car did you have before the V6

Just wondering how many owened a 172 or other clio before they bought the V6. It does seem that a fair few of the V6 owners had 172s ect before the V6, if so what made you buy the V6? And if you didnt own a renault before what did you have?

I had a 172 and then bought a V6. I was looking for a totally different driving experience. Also the V6 didnt need any exterior modding. Sticking bits on a 172 just makes them look like cheap wannabes. IMO

Planning on going from 172 Mk1 to V6 255. Love my 172 to bits ... have always enjoyed hot hatch performance and styling and 172 is one of the best for that. Also always wanted something with more than 4 cylinders ... but didnt want to have a big motor to put the big engine in. Hence, V6 gives me exactly what Im looking for ... hot hatch on steroids looks with big glorious sounding engine.

Loved the Metro 6R4 when I was a lad too ... plus the 5 Turbos ... so V6 is pretty much my "dream" car. Its only now that I can afford my dream ... well I cant really but you only live once ;)

Helps when youve got a nice comfy 7 seater as your family car too.

I had a Ford Racing Puma, which is the best FWD in the world (disclaimer: not necessarily true) but I got a bit bored of the rattles from the rock-hard suspension, and I was getting weed on by Ross in his 182...hang on, still am...but at least I look like I should win ;) I love cars that are different, and have obviously had serious time spent making them the car they are...admittedly flawed, but we dont all want to drive 330ds.

I dont really get the whole brand loyalty thing, I will always buy the car the makes me feel 15.

well i went for a V6 purly because i love the looks of the current clios, and was bored with the 172. I know i could of got a better car for the monney with a nice interior and a faster 0-60, but the exterior looks and the sound of the V6 did it for me.

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

Z3M Coupe, Lotus Exige then Mk1 V6, fancied a project to make a quick one - the rest is history.

Mk2 Exige will be next but will keep the Clio for shopping in !!

I had a Mk2 172. Never had so much fun with a car. It was coming up to 3 years old so needed to be changed (have to use for work). V6 seemed the obvious choice.

All smiles so far :D

I had an Audi TT 225 Roadster but it used to send me to sleep. V6 was brought after test driving Cup, CTR, Mini Cooper S - its the only car that I have ever brought that I havent got bored of within about 6 months.

I am reserving a large "plot" so that I can be buried in it when I go!

Had a Polo Gti (3 door) Then the current 172, have to hold on for them for 3 years or 135,000kms, as its a company car. That means that I cant get a V6 next time round, not enough seats. I can opt out and take the extra cash, but a V6 here is 55,000 euros which is 35,000 quid in real money!!!!!!!!!

I had a Vectra Gsi. Great car. IMO an allround better package than the V6.

V6 looks better than anything else on the road, but has bored/annoyed me quickly. That coupled with the fact that my girlfriend is pregnant, means it is going and Im getting a Megane 225.

bte, I had a highlty modded 5GTTurbo... very nice but a scum bug stole it and worte the car and himself off... so I bought a V6 255 to cheer myself up and have not stopped smiling sinse...:D:D

Oh Simon

Your little comments amuse me.

You need to come to terms with the fact that not everyone thinks the mk2/mk1 V6 is the be all and end all.

Once you do you may chill a bit and be more useful to this forum than your constant whinging.

Be open to the fact that people are allowed opinions on things and dont rise to the bait all the time.

It is people like you that put folk off V6s and V6 owners.

Get out more, get a life and chill out!

I had a peugeot 106 gti that I spent solid cash on, It was feature in max power twice I have attached a pic to this, I fist seen the v6 3yrs ago always wanted one, Sold the pug for 20k few months ago so all fell into please.

Your coments amuse me too mate, it seems you just can not wait to have a dig at the V6 when ever you can.

I didnt think it would be long before you came on here dissing the V6 again, when I saw it was a V6 post.....lol you make me laugh, you really do....:p

The Thread is nothing to do about what car you will get after the V6, But what you had BEFORE a V6....:p

but you had to have your little dig again didnt you.... cant you just have fun on a Megane site or something???

Simon.

I would think any car is an all round better package than the v6 including the (awful) vectra.

I thought the whole idea of the v6 was that its fun ie. impractical, stylish and overpriced (just like a ferrari)

Interesting to see how many of you have had FRPs, I cant afford to buy or run a v6 so I went for an 03 172, I considered the FRP but the age put me off (only another year or so before itll start to rust i suspect). They are gorgeous though.

(just to be clear im not trying to criticise the v6 which I think is an incredible car, I do think £21 or £22k would be a more realistic price though they do demand a huge premium over a 182)

  Mk2 Clio V6 / 996 C4S

I had a Mk1 172, thought about a Mk1 V6 when they first came out but went for a 330 Cabby. Sold the Cabby last year and got the Mk2 V6.

And absolutly love it, cant think of anything, other than a 997, that Ill be replacing it with.
