What Car to Get

Hi, Last week my lady friend stacked her car into someone else. She had saved for a 172 but was waiting till Aug to get one as her insurance has gone down.

But now with no no claims and 2 claims against here as well as 3 points for speeding she just cant afford the insurance. She is also 19!! What car should she get for 7/8k. She is a bit of a girlracer and so doesnt want anything to standard. Her previous cars have been 2 AX GTs and 106 xsi.

The cars i have put to here are:

106 quicksilver (my favourate).

Fiesta Zetec S.

The 106 will cost her around £1250 fully comp and Zetec £1500!!!

What would you make her get!! Any new idears welcome.

She says she wants a new shape Clio though but wiych ones have street cred as standard as she aint modifying it.

106 Quicksilver, definatly its alot nicer in my opinion. maybe a 106 1.6 16v Gti???

my bird is 18 and got quotes on a 106 gti for under a grand. shes not got a years no claims yet. that was fully comp too! Get ur bird to ring diamond mate.

i wouldnt go for a quicksiver over a Zetec-s. At least eh Zetec-s is sporty and a decent size. I drove a 106 to work for 1 year - no thanks! Why not a VTR (same size i know) or Zetec-s or even a 1.4 Puma? For 7-8k there must be a sporty clio too.

Yeah actually ring about - try tescos too - if I add my GF to my policy I save £60- this is with my GF having crashed (her fault) causing 2.5k worth of damage!! 106Gti / VTS

None of the mentioned are really feasible. A willy and GTI are going to cost just to much to insure.

I was going to help her pay for the 172 but the cheapest quote was £2700

so i dont think i will!!! Willy is probably the same!

The quicksilver looks the most likley as they are also cheap, starting at £4.5k. This would leave her money left over so she can put this towards her 172 in maybe a yr or so.

she still wants a new clio the most. Im going to offend here. I dont think any new shape clio looks sporty as standard

(bar the 172 of course). They can look nice though if modded but she dont want to mod!!

She wont want a 106 slowsilver if shes wants something fast! cos that they arent - her xsi would beat one im sure. Does she definately want a brand new car? why not get a mk.3 clio 1.6 16v or something? (i think there is such a thing!?) how about a VTR as mentioned above? - bit common, but definately better than a quick(?)silver. But, i do admit they handle very well. I think the Fiesta Zetec-Ss look nice - dont know anything about their insurance. But today i was toasted by one from the lights! totally gob smacked, he was 3-up too. Pity there was someone crossing the road in front of my car when he launched

a fiesta zetec s is below group 10 (i think its some thing like 8)

but they arent that quick, as the power delivery never seems to come.

i think a vtr is a better bet, or a new clio.

id get a phase 2 rallye 106 or vtr fundamnetally same cars but 106 is faster

kev 106 gti is only group 13 not that high considering they go like stink and handle like go karts

my bro and mate just got a gti each abd there having so much fun in them. i can see why too

No, theyre not nice cars to be in all day.

Our 1.2 16vs have the same bhp as the poxy quicksilvers, have much nicer interiors and spec and crucially you wont die in a crash!

er, less likely to die in a crash. Not sure reno guarantee 100% protection - if they do, Im staying in my Clio if the war kicks off!

Considering the Zetec s is group 8 and quotes are around £1500 Fully comp for her, A 106 Rally is is group 11 and so will be pricy on insurance and dont look good. Its 2.2k for her insured on a 16v so a 106GTI is going to be similar. So all above are not feasible. She wants to only pay a little over a grand.

Although she wants a fast car, her driving recold in nippy cars is terrible. Wrote 1 AX off, 106xsi Off and 3 points so i think she is best with a average but sporty looking car eg the quicksilver (i now they are slow but look spot on) Then this will leave her money to get a 172 nxt yr
