what changes would you want!

  e60 M5 -172- dciheid

have had my 172 for 15months, do love it but as with everything there could be improvements, id be interested to hear what folk would want so if any marketing guys for renault out there read this hows about for the next clio:-

better build quality (pleeeeeeeeese)

6 speed box

better brakes

better esp system

more colours (glad to see it addressed with 182 in some ways)

choice of alloys

choice of full leather seats

getting them in would be gallas and make a huge difference, esp the 6th gear which the car can handle no probs

  Clio 1.4, SV650S

i think they spend thousands trying to improve build quality and reliability... they know that already. theres only so much refinement they can do to plastic dash mouldings on a budget of £13,500 a car!

i think they could have a look at the engine mounts though, they seem to be a common problem?

some kind of emblem for the front so ppl know its not just a dynamique or the equivalent :D
?????lol
like the red grille on a Golf GTi or the type-R logo on civics.... so people see you coming and move over :devilish:

i suppose thats what the gourdini stripes are for.

  Clio v6

Marketing may like to boast "Award winning customer service and consistently excellent dealer network".

  e60 M5 -172- dciheid

the xenons/ square grill on the front are pretty guid to get folk oot the way, tho not everyone will notice that or may even just think thats the way its meant to look!!

id like to see the red/yellow/blue stripes appear on the front in a small badge gets my vote

wonder how easy it is to get the 6 speeder from the megane diesel into the next clio....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

A big powerful diesel (very light) engine and 7 speed box geared to make full use of the power.
Coilovers as standard
Wider track
Lower C of G
Sleeper looks

For the next Clio Id be happy with a 200hp+ tunned Dci but it just wont happen looks like Ill have to do it myslef.
No central mounted dials like the Yaris though.
Get rid of that stupid inteligent computer systems and return to normal simple wiring.
A proper Cup racer version.
Return the spare wheel well.

i was more laughing because of all the changes that the clio needs you wanted a badge on the grill

better brakes

Why?? Is the ability to hit your head on the windscreen with such ease (nearly did this so many times on the first day of ownership!) not good enough for you?

Yeah why would you want better brakes?!! You do realise a standard 172 can outbrake anything this side of a Porsche??? Brakes are awesome on em and Ive never had fade on standard discs/pads even on trackdays. Only thing I would say is a less intrusive ABS system in the wet, always seems to kick in a little early for my liking, feels like theres more grip there when bang pedal goes for it.

Personally Id like better build quality more then anything, Im happy with standard performance, handling, comfort, brakes, interior its just the build quality that does my nut in. CD changer that can play mp3s would be nice tho!

  e60 M5 -172- dciheid

the brakes just dont seem that immense imo, but do the job, still want brembos for mine, which i think shall be on the to do list

least there is a 100bhp diesel edde, but i think they should tune up the 140bhp megane motor and get that in the next clio, no gay electric blue floating yaris dials either that is pants, but look at the megane scenic they seem to like that pisch - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

6 gears is a must, could really make motorway driving a bit less nosiy and help economy

  e60 M5 -172- dciheid

sunroof as well springs to mind, anyone know why the hell it aint even an option when the dynamiques intiale and that get it?!?! ok its a bit of extra weight but would be nice as an option at least!!!!!!!!

sat nav is tasty by the way but hard shelling out the grand and a bit on it

wipers that wipe the correct way!!!

Ill go with that.

Its the one thing, for day to day driving, that really gets up my nose.

Just give us variable intermittant, instead of intelligent wipers.

  tiTTy & SV650

lower driving position,

6 speed box,

cup holders!!!!

nice wheels...

no silver painted plastic inside

better exhaust

coilovers

autochanger as standard

dont need more power IMO

bog standard wipers or electronics that work

Better turn in, (lose the power steering...) no feel to it

Heres my wishlist

No suspension clunks
No Dash Rattles
Engine from the Megane 225 or naturally aspirated 2.0 with 200HP
6 speed box
0-60 in 6 seconds dead
choice of 3 or 5 doors
Lower (and better) seating position on standard Recaro Seats
17 inch Momo, BBS or OZ rims as standard or a choice of rims at least
More colours - Dark Silver (like Cooper S), White, Alfa Blood Red and BRG
Range of official tuning, brake and suspension mods available in ALL markets
iPod drawer (like the new Alfa 147) ipod slots in like a cassette, away you go
No big Butt!!!!!
Any special editions available in ALL countries
Any extreme versions like Clio V6 sold in ALL countries
Can you guess I am pissed off that living in Australia means no Trophy editions and no V6????? Although I have recently discovered the V6 is available in NZ on special order, so importing one might be the go...

Anyway, if they f*ck up the styling on the next clio, Im buying the last of the 182s or keeping my 172...or buying a Golf GTi. It all hinges on what the new Cliosport looks like!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! This will take away some of the "sleeper" value.

Besides it will only get nicked ... (and put on the wannabe dynamiques)

a driving positioned designed by someone who understands why when youre driving your limbs should all point in the same direction.

Much better seats.

Move the heater from the bottom of the dash to where the radio is (why is the radio so close to hand when the radio controls are already behind the wheel?).

sort out the dopey turn in at low speed.

a decent turning circle would be nice.

less back end fidget when braking at high speed (not sure if this is possible)

slightly slicker gearchange

that aside, please dont make it bigger, heavier, fatter etc and dont load it with shi5e we dont need (intelligent wipers!!)

although i dont own a modern Clio, from reading this site almost every day, the main thing seems to be build quality / reliability, some say its a cheap car, but its still a lot of money to a lot of people and you shouldnt expect so much grief from a new product, and some manufacturers are going onto 5year warranties now, cant see Renault doing that, they would go bust

another main worry for future models is the size and weight of them, dont make them bigger and heavier, their is no need !

wake up m8. this is a car that can be bought for £10,995 - £12,000 in this country depending on spec. its got far more kit than any top end saloon had 10 yrs ago and more kit than a mid range saloon had 5yrs ago. its the cheapest way to go fast stop fast and corner fast for the price and it looks mint IMO.

that list is exactly the same as my fantasy list but even if you buy it for 13k british pounds the rule of thumb is a 6x increase in profit on items i.e something that costs £1 to make is £6 retail price to you £4 to seller. so by that logic i wouldnt be supprised if the mass development / commonly used parts ( 5 million+ clios sold world wide !! ) if the 182 full fat cost much more than 2k to build.. how the hell do you expect all that.

i think reno did a pretty good job this time. the wheel spin knock smaller steering wheel / lower seating posistion is all that is needed until the next gen.
btw the 182cup+ recaro does damn near 6.0 to 60 apparently as the 182 full fat did a 6.3 to 60 on test. even 6.6 is silly fast. 30-70 5.4 secs !!! faster than many 20k+ cars.

Id like:

6 speed
200 bhp
Better build quality / Elimination of any rattles (ive only got a tiny little one so im not too fussed)
Smaller steering wheel
Better thigh support on the seats
Seats to be lower down
Brembo breaks
Heated mirrors/seats
Better in-car illumination (footwells / rear seats)
Electric seats

Thats about it i think.

182 has heated mirrors... and if its an import from certain countries it has heated seats too.

I hate warm seats

Apart from the Driving position, and maybe a slightly slicker gearchange, i dont think much else could be done, not for 12/13k anyway

Personally i think its pretty good value for what it is already

oh...maybe a slightly smaller steering wheel on the Renaultsport versions :p
