What coilovers?

  Porsche Boxster987S
Im looking to buy myself some coilys but do really know enough about them. I understand H&Rs are probably the best but i m nt wanting to spend anymore than around 500. Im just looking for something that will take the car down a good bit but will still give the car good handling. Whats my best bet???? Or am i better not buying any??

might be worth waiting for a set of used h&r's. they come up for around that money. Cheep ones available new but as i understand it, it depends what u want them for.

Show or go?

I have h&r's and tbh its a bit shite on the road (uneven B roads I mean) compaired to just lowering springs. First coilover'd car ive had tho so could just be what they are like.

But on track it is amazing!

Not sure if some cheeper kits with adjustable damping would be any better

s**t on the road?!?!?! They are proper suspension with proper damping and setup properly with the correct spring rates. Lowering a car on standard shocks is never a great way as u are making the original shocks do something they were never supposed to do. ur putting them under more stress and the dampers arent working as they should do. The car usually feels bouncy by just fitting springs. However its ok if ur on a small budget.

As for the cheaper kits with adjustment- I wouldnt entertain them, as less has been spent on damping and rebound research etc. thats why they are usually hard as nails, aswell as the components and the quality of the parts used are cheaper, hence why they are cheaper to buy! u get what u pay for! :)

sorry i ment ride, can be a bit bumpy at times on uneven roads. Im copairing my old phase 2 on prolines to my stripped phase 1 with h&r's.

I'll shut up

no its ok.didnt mean it to come across like that :) i kinda know what u mean tho. They standard stuff will be a better ride. The only problem with german stuff is that its developed there where the roads are smooth and maintained where as here our b roads leave a little to be desired. In short our roads are sh*t!!!

Mine doesn't give a hard ride at all, it drives fine

My H&R's are slammed as far as they'll go and it makes the car look lovely.

Handling is brilliant although very bumpy or cr@p roads.

Lots of torque steer and skipping aswell when really low!

but think of all that lovely forward motion that is being wasted throwing you all over the place ;)

Yozzasport is the best place to buy/fit them. H&Rs are fit and forget (no damping adjustment) KWs are adjustable so may need a play around with the settings.
