Sounds brilliant! Just dont stand at the front of the car! Still sounds like a 1.21!

I have the K-Tec Twin 3" on my 172.

Once the exhaust has warmed up, it has a nice burble on tick over. At 70mph on the motorway, it is very boomy. It is fine at 80mph tho :)

I love blipping the throttle on downchanges just to get the zorst noise :D

big iain

any chance of a pic from back of car straight on, wanna know if you see the backbox below the tailpipes, according to ktec if its fitted and adjusted correctly you shouldnt see the backbox

cheers

Rich,

It depends on the angle you look at the car from. If you stand directly behind the car, you cant see the back box, just the pipes.

If you crouch down, then yes you can see the box as well as the pipes.

cheers cocopops

what do ya reckon its like from the perspective of a car behind you say anything between 3-10 car lengths behind, strange question i know its just i dont want a big shiny backbox obviously visible, just literally two 3" pipes and thats all

I was behind a cup the other day with magnex twin 3.5" and as i approached from 10-15+ cars back i could see massive shiny backbox just hanging there !!!

yeah the magnex is pretty big, im gonna go with the 4"slash cut fromm ktec and was a little worried about the back box showing so ive got a rear valance to help hide it, maybe thats an option for u?? 172 rear vaalnce with the cut out to help hide it away!?!?

thanks very much, really appreciate that, these are pics ive been wanting to see for ages, looks far better than i expected, always got option of painting backbox with heat resistant black paint anyway

As for the poor quality comments, the fitter that fitted mine (bought 2nd hand from BenS) was most impressed with the quality of the system.

He said it would easily outlast the car!!

Bear in mind that the pics above are of the dirty tailpipes, but they are nice and clean now. BenS said it had covered about 8,000 miles since new.

Dont be suprised if its not loud strait away. It will get louder as you clock a few miles on it. Theres normally a kind of baffle material inside the back box, as carbon etc builds up in it the airflow becomes a little smoother and the sound increases with it.

(No one quote me on that)

I find that the exhaust sounds far nicer once it has warmed up. When I first start the car, its audible but not a sporty note. Then once warmed up, it burbles nicely on tick over and then growls upon blipping the throttle :D

Makes me smile every time I change down through the geards blipping the throttle between changes.

I dont want an exhaust that is too loud for comfortable motorway driving and I have been told the K-Tec is too loud ? Was told to look at a Magnex instead ?

The other thing that I dont like is that the exhaust exits VERY low on the car under the rear valance and I have been tempted to cut away part of the bumper and fit it higher, I think it looks so much better like the pic below of GB LEOs Cup :

Is this possible to do with the K-Tec or Magnex exhaust or does it have to be custom built ?

  2008 Golf GTI Edition 30

Not sure, but my K-Tec sits 10mm from the rear bumper.

I dont want to cut the bumper in case I fit the standard exhaust back to the car before selling etc.

Coco, you make a very good point. Ideally I would like the hidden exhaust from K-Tec but is it too loud for everyday use ? I dont want an exahust so loud that I cannot hear the radio ? I have read somewhere that K-Tec can make it quieter ?

  BMW e46 320 Ci Sport

i heard ktec can add extra baffle to quiet it down if u want but unsure ab out this on the new shape clios!?!

k-tec quiet system actually adds a centre silencer as opposed to a traight through pipe, its still bloody loud though, just take a little of the boominess away, only available for 172 variants though

  BMW e46 320 Ci Sport

maybe a magnex is the option then. i dont want mine too loud either, my IK is already well loud. sigh

dogmaul, why did you get rid of it ?

I dont think I could handle that for everyday use. Sounds good when booting it tho !

If you have the radio on 20 at motorway speeds you cant hear the exhaust at all..but if your trying to have a conversation it can be a bit irratating..

It does transform the cars noise once warm (sounds awful cold!) but im not sure on the quality of steel they use.

The twin 3 inch looks great on 172s but im not quite so sure on the non sport models.

i was pissed off and moment of madness sold it :(

if we do the radio test mine on 20 i could just hear the music really

but nice power gain and id certainly have a supersprint race exhaust on my next car

Dai,

Youll have to take a trip down the M4, and you can see what the Twin 3" is like on my 172.

Perhaps, a Bristol meet or somewhere similar?

  2008 Golf GTI Edition 30

Where are you based? Is there no one local you can take a look at?

Im in Reading, Big Iain is up narf somewhere.

Oh come on this K-tec thing cant be that loud.

Try driving 80miles on the motorway everyday with a Supersprint race systems. Now that people is Hardcore. ;)

Coco, I am going to the Curborough trackday in a few weeks so I am sure that someone will have a K-Tec there along with all the other makes so I can check them all out. If that fails then a Bristol meet could definitely be on the cards anyway ! Be good to meet up !

The problem I have is that I want a hidden exhaust and not many places produce them at the moment.
