What do you need by law? Track car interiour

Is there anything else you need by law to have inside your car?

I know you need a hazzard lights switch, a way to demist your windscreen and a set of speedo dials.

Is there anything else you need to have so if i get pulled over and mr plod says that cant be legal i can say well actually it is.

lol. Yeah that. I'm guess it depends on what you're looking to do with it Chris? If you're competing, then there will be a sh1t load of regs you'll have to adhere to. Otherwise, it's more your safety tbh. They never check the cars over on trackdays. Only noise regs.

Yeah its still my road car at the moment when i eventually take it racing some time in the future then i may have to put some bits back in.

Saved about 200kg i think, i'm currently doing some work on it so its sort of off the road. Should be all finished by Monday and back on the road YAY

Does the base model mk1 thin dash fit in a mark/phase 2?

Not cutting the door skins out aswell?

Not much more required to be honest. Speedo with odometer, hazards, fog lights, lights, inidicators, driver and interior mirror, steering wheel, seats, seatbelts (aircraft buckle harnesses and harnesses attached to the roll cage are not road legal but can usually get away with it), front screen demister (either heater or trace heated screen) that is all as far as i can remember.

Basically a stack dash and the original stalks will get you pretty much there.

from what i remember you dont need a speedo it isnt a requirement unless thats just for mot .

I'm pretty sure you don't even need a speedo to pass the M.O.T

I was under the impression a road car needed a dash of some kind though, no?

Dont have to have a speedo but to be road legal a car has to have an odometer that cannot be reset, not really possible without a speedo that!? It wouldnt fail an MOT if it wasnt there but if a copper stopped him or VOSA it might be deemed illegal.
