Thanks for taking the time to read.

I'm in the market for a Clio and I've decided on a 172 CUP. I've missed out on a couple recently.......gutted!

My question is I went to see a 53 Plate last night with some history. A Cambelt at around 72k. Mileage was 110k. The drivers seat doesnt tilt anymore, there were few dents around the outside especially where the bonnet had flown up and hit the top edge of windscreen. I also could see oil under the inlet......which I guess could be spillage......it was up for £2000

Just wondering what you guys think.

Walk on at that price imo, mine leaked oil on the inlet too relatively easy fix with a bit of sealant. I'd bid them about £1200...

2k seems too much with that mileage. I'd keep looking if I were you

I would say for that mileage and a dent in the roof that was a bit pricey. Also only 10k of another Cambelt change. As for the oil most the time it's a leak from a bolt on the rocker, however could be the actual rocker cover needs reselling which is a Cambelt off job.

Would avoid that one and keep looking

Wasnt in bristol was it?Sounds like the one a trader on here (dan@sjm) was posting about that he went to see down that way, sounded horrific!Sadly I reckon there are more bad cups than good now, too many of them have been really hammered and not looked after, probably off this forum is your best place to find a good one as at least in general they will have a better chance of having been loved if owned by an enthusiast.

No not in bristol mate. Think I may change and look for a 182 or standard 172......

Have seen one in Swindon on eBay I'd like to look at its just getting time to get down there.

Well looks like I'm going to go and look at thomas.olivers cammed 172 over the weekend. Needs some work but I'm up for that. If it's the right car
