I think that the boxes die as much because of revs as because of torque TBH
Not done scientific enough testing to say for sure but the MWM turbo car is making 258bhp and not killed the box, and likewise andyrg managed not to kill the box on his, and thats both with about 60% more torque in both cases than any N/A F4R will typically achieve.
But the key thing is that neither of them need to rev quite as hard as the N/A cars.
So I think its very much a cominbation of torque and rpm. Not just one or the other.
