what is a decoder ring on a clio

aparently this is whats up with my friend clio.

Im stumped!

is it to do with the immobiliser? Could be a possibility as that has to do some sortof decoding

im sure your talking about the immobiliser aerial ring, which is, funnily enough, an antennae round the ignition barrel on the steering column, which dis-arms the immobilieser then the key is within its range, IE, in the ignition...

ahh, so the car doesnt start, or cuts out mid way through the journey, this could be the cause?

Also, how much is one of those? and do you think theyll do it under warrenty?

should be under warranty, as I dont see how it would need replaced due to damage by the customer...



no idea how much they cost though... but yes, thats why it would cut out and not start etc... could just be a bad ground on it though...
