What is progressive braking?

in the 172 cup manual it says the brakes are designed to use progressive
braking techniques..what is it, have an idea just want to see if am right

  TDI tyre shreader
b****cks because they dont have ABS!!! only joking

Its where you can feel whats happening throught the brakes and adjust very finely the braking preassure in order to achieve maximum braking power whilst not skidding!!

Got taught this in the elise on a driver training day. You have to push hard to the point just before the wheels lock up and then as you slow, gradually reduce pressure to prevent locking up as you slow. It was quite interesting without ABS :D
