What Is The Best I/K

  Williams 2
I am thinking of putting a I/K on my car, i have a mk1 ph3 clio

Could anyone tell me what is best suited for this!

Cheers

  Skoda Fabia vRS
probably the latest kit by Hill Power, where the filter is moved to under the expansion tank

  Clio 172 mk2
OE airbox with decent panel filter

IMHO Induction kits are a waste of money unless your gong for big power....you may find you'll actually loose bhp and torque.

1.2 Phase 3 yeah?

Get a K&N cone on it as that sits over besid the suspension turret away from any engine heat, unlike the std airbox. I got one the other day...sounds good...fitting is a bit of a b*****d though.

Yeah i have the MK1 PH3 !!!

I want a cone really anyway, So the Cone will be better because it will be away from the heat of the engine unlike the standard airbox

Yes exactly.

I'll also try and get pics of mine tonight to give you an idea.

ive got a mk1 phase three, we did tests with green cotton, piperx and kand n filters, piperx came out on top, this is on a rolling road, no torque loss, a max of 5bhp increase, and an awesome sound, ive got a piperx and have had for couple of months, ive never tried hill power but there other stuff is always good, so either, just not k and n, cos it did lose torque.

I'm still sticking to my guns on the OE airbox...if it gets hot just wrap it in some heat insulating mat.

I've been used to running a turbo car which had much more heat issues than the Renault ever will.....the general consensus with them was also to keep the OE airbox unless going for really big power.

sorry forget my post, i didnt read your post properly, different engine than what im thinking of

yes u33db, the green was bettre, due to the fact its a different tyupe of mesh, HKS ones are good too but they dont do them for french cars, shame, k and n are affectively a more attractive standard filter, this doesnt apply to all cars, but mk ones it does, tho i dont know about the valvers/williams etc.

K&N on mine.

No worries with hot air ruining performance...i've just been sat in a traffic jam and the cone is colder than the std airbox would have been in a similar situation.

I used to have a K&N cone on my 1.4RT and it was rubbish, nice sound but sitting directly above the engine is just a big no no. The kits that relocate the cones are better, but in the end I've went for the ITG Panel Filter in the std. airbox and cut a new hole in the side for the extra cold air feed (about 2" square). Much better! :) And still no heatsoak, so I'm with Neil on this one.

Yeah but thats a completely different engine from the one above and in that case i'd agree, std airbox is best. However, for the one above, open cone is far superior

yup that does actually look rather good

Still got the cold air ducting to put on...of course wether the car goes fast enough for to channel anything through it is another story! lol

Theres a definate improvement in driveabilty with the open cone on anyway...it'd struggle to rev before...now i can easily max in each gear...45 in second etc so that should certainly help when the cam and flowed head goes on.
