At the front of the engine bay Drivers side?

If you get under your bumper and look straight up (pretty much inline with the drivers side fog)

what is that for?

Just searched, alot of people say rip it out....

aslong as it does "nothing" i should be fine just leaving it as it is?

You should have no problem taking it all out, it does serve a purpose but its not important

Quote from Wiki

[edit] Capturing vented vapors

Within the vehicle, vapors from the fuel tank are channelled through canisters containing activated carbon instead of being vented to the atmosphere. These are known as carbon canisters. The vapors are adsorbed within the canister, which feeds into the inlet manifold of the engine.

Ah! so it serves a similar kind of purpose to when cars have their oil breathing back into their throttle body?

Never saw that as a good thing.

Thanks!

Basically it vents excessive fuel vapour through it and back into the engine. I took mine all out and it was fine.
