The bit that juts out from under the engine cover? I am sure I have seen one that has been removed and it just appears to route wires.
Can I whip mine off as it looks pants.

think it is the fuel rail protector but not 100% sure.

just know it gets in the way when trying to get to the oil filter

exhaust manifold is at rear of engine

So it doesn't have any 'real' purpose so could potentially removed?

LOL @ the edit Daz. saving face eh? ;)

Benji&eka: Would it not be wise to remove it then in that case? Is the fuel rail inside the shield ie. at the far end in the cut out section?

yup, and no i'd leave it on, its easy enough to remove when you need access (for oil filter and such like)
yeah but no but LOL

i was told its because the car has a plastic fuel rail and is there to protect it in the case of a front end smash.

it can be removed , but wouldnt like to be near it if u ever do crash it

Think I may leave it then. It just looks so shite. I might spray it satin silver

Looks fine...don't see what's so ugly about it. Don't the 182's have a further cover on that? plastic bit?
