What power speakers for amp

Can someone please advise me on what power of speakers I should be going for. I have an Alpine unit (cant remember model number but was one of the top range in 2003-4) which has 60W per channel output and an Alpine f340 V12 amp. I used to have infinity components but they didnt sound great and a bit "blowy". I always thought I should buy speakers with greater power than the amp so as not to damage them but I have heard different opinions. Can someone advise? Cheers

no the amp should output more power than the rating of the speaker.

this is because a clipped signal into the speaker will cause 10x more damage than a little over powering.

I am looking at getting aset of focal polyglass 130cvs. The have the following rating

Would I be best running my amp bridged or with 4 channels?

The spec for my amp is below

are you going to be using the rear channels for anything?

if not, id would run it bridged but turn the gain way down

I would like to run a set of coaxials in the rear so would be good if I could amp them too but looking for the best possible sound. Would appreciate peoples opinions as I had a set of Infinity 55.5CS and a set of 52.5Is in the rear and the system sounded bad up loud. The gain was set at medium.

Also, would I need to to any plastic removal to fit 5.25" Focals in? Is the magnet small enough in depth?
