What speakers

Can anyone recommend good 13cm components with a budget of around £120 ish? I have an Alpine HU and thought it might be best to stick to Alpine products? Thinking about SPR-136As???

i have some spr136as

they dont fit in the doors and the tweeter dont fit in the tweeter mounts

the alpine 136s are a good speaker for the money, but youd be better off spending a little more and looking along the lines of focal, jl or kenwood dual mags (surprisingly good quality of sound)

kenwood psr71s are brilliant, tweeters fit straight in, mids need a little bit of trimming and cutting to get in but the sound is well worth it. Can take a lot of power too.

Maybe consider paying to get them fitted as you need to take the dash off to locate tweeters and crossovers.

Should only be about an hours labour approx £35 depending where you are in country.

Was thinking about trying to take dash off myself. Should be easy enough? Only worried about creating lots of rattles and noises. Anyone had any experience/problems?

noel - the kenwood psr71s are a right b*stard to fit, i had some great fun trying to fit them into my mates clio, the only thing i didnt have a problem with was mounting depth

if you want to avoid most hassles stick to 13cm comps, when trying to fit 17cm comps it is very easy to destroy a door card (or 3) - i have found this out, and just ask tomclio1.2, he also suffered this same problem

Where do the crossover boxes go? What do they do anyway? Not very clued up on audio systems but want to make mine decent.

Do I need to have the comonents amped if I have crossovers or will they work fine off my alpine 7894rb HU?

they will work fine with your headunits 60w (peak) output

Sorry just found this topic! I have Alpine Spr 135As in mine. Dont know if they are the same as 136s. If you trim off the plastic cup that is behind the speakers in the doors then they drop straight in. As for the tweeters whilst they dont clip straight into the mounts they are easily taped in place. This sounds a bit gash but as yet (8 months) they havent moved and the tape cant be seen.
