What To Do With The T

I have no idea what to do with the Trophy, Its sat since Aug 2016 and been born in the garage but I miss it so much and now I have the LY 197 i dont know if I love the trophy like I used too, Im not spending as much time with it as I used or buying stuff for it anymore.

I have it almost exactly how I want it with a few things extra but I just can't be bother doing the most simple of things, It gets started , driven for around 1/2 a mile on a private road and then put away again.

Im hoping that come april / may the weather is much better and I can get the car out and possibly think about brining it to CSF17 but I'm now looking at it as a waste.

Is it worth keeping it tucked away like the ERST or thinking about moving on ?

You would regret selling it, I can guarantee that Marc.

Im sure that come summer time you will fall in love again.

I'm in the same boat. I just don't have the time for it, or the money for trackdays.

Gonna put the Sachs back on next month and see if I still enjoy it.

Yours looks absolutely mint and if you sell it then you can guarantee it would end up costing more to get another one like it later down the line.

Just use it and maintain it like any other car, life is far to short and you'll likely regret not just having fun with it and worrying about what it will be worth when your 69, get rid of the yellow one and go and enjoy it, that's what it was made for, I just rebuilt the full underside of my cup, easy to do and hardly costs the earth, had it out as soon as it was completed

Agreed.

"What did you do with that really cool red car you had granddad? "

" I kept it in a barn all my life" lol

Life's too short, maybe go away in Europe to it or something, another road trip but stay longer? It is mint but at the end of the day it's just a clio.

It's one car I really don't miss is the trophy and I've had a few cars. Didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as my 172 cup. I wouldn't have another and I doubt you'd miss it Marc, I certainly dont

Yeah, drive it when its dry and not salty. It isnt like you are commuting and putting mega miles on it.

Cars are built to be driven and enjoyed.

Cash out. I thought I'd miss my cup after 12 years of ownership. Sold in August last year and whilst I loved it, I don't miss it. Can't keep it forever/take it with you - life's too short lol!

Trophy's are never going to be vee money.

I dont think its worth the hassle of storing it for the extra few ££ you MIGHT make in 30 years time, also youre not getting your pennies worth out of it, or the fun factor they give, its just sat there like a sad old man wearing a raincoat wanting to be driven hard.

They didnt name it the trophy because you have to keep it as a trophy.

Enjoy Petrol while you can mate

I regret my 5 GT Turbo being completely stripped to bits and needing a full rebuild on a weekly basis :(

I would use it until you know the time is right and you can't stand the sight of it

R27 wasted my love for the Trophy too. ive since shifted the R27 on as I couldn't be arsed with the cost of them every time they need something doing but imo they feel just as special to drive as the trophy.

I'm considering selling mine on too, i fancy building something like an F4RT mk2 or mk3 as the Trophy doesn't scratch that modifying bug, ive just been watching the prices for the last few months to decide what to do

I'm just not sure I see the values rising that much? Then again.... look at the 205s now? If they do it'll be at least another decade imo, no matter how much some dreameer has his up for just now thewy're still struggling.

I think the problem is, is you can make a 182 a Trophy so easily. With other cars like that you can't, the FRP maybe is a slight example, it's only 5 years older than the Trophy yet you can't buy one under 10k and they only made 500 of them also but you can't turn a standard Trophy in to one over a weekend.

The ERST you know about... maybe even sell the Trophy and buy a Fiesta RST and store it away, at least it will always appreciate?

It was up for sale once already, at 11k.

Yeah it was up for sale for £11k to prove a point to all the dreamers out there saying that trophys are worth £10/15/20k when clearly trophys are not.

If I was going to sell the car and be totally honest about it I think I would put it up for about £6/7K if that.
Yeah I have invoices that total over £10K but thats the joys of the modified car scene.

The car has done 2.7miles since Aug 2016 and tonight I took it out and loved the rawness of the car.

they are holding money but hardly an investment, I thought mine was fairly priced when I got it a couple of years ago for £5k, standard with 50k miles. ive since spent 2x services, brakes, 2x tyres and its now due a belt change so there goes a grand-£1500, and ive done probably 5k in it, if that could I sell it tomorrow for £6500, I'm not convinced! hardly an investment, but then if I wanted an investment id have bought a F355!
