What to do...

Rite...Not that i haven't brought this up before.

I've been offered 6k for my car 10mins ago from a dealer. Low i know, but thats in std trim so i can make about...say...1k from all the bits. (Internals, ITG, Turini's, Springs, decat!)

They have a 53plate Vee new in stock. 16.6k. under 11k miles. soooo....we're talking 10k i need to find.

The willy is getting sold, because quite frankly i'm to scared of it. Already renewed about every major part on it! So i should get about 2k for it. It's mint now!!!

Now i need to find 8k. I can get insurance for 1082.72£ on my current policy.

I'd cancel the insurance for the 172. So i'd get 800£ back because i only just renewed.

I Finished with the misses a month or so ago so i've got NO expences!

Am i bein stupid. I can get the remaining 8k from the bank @ 1.1% over base. So it'll cost be 670£ a year in interest.

I'm only young! Why the fcuk not! (Although it's a bad time of year and i'm based in aberdeen.) Oh dear...

TBH it depends on what your priorities are in life.

Like it or not the Vee will depreciate, and you WILL pick up another missus.

Can you use the Vee as a daily driver? I probably good, just about. But I wouldnt wanna park it around the missus house. I would need a daily driver or a moped which is another expense.

Also how important is property to you? I would have a Vee now if I wasnt trying to double my mortgage deposit saved.

Lots to think about.

It depends on your age and what your looking to do with your life short term. If you are thinking about moving out then don't get the vee. You'll lose far too much money that could be put towards a deposit. If you can see your goin to be at parents for the next couple of years at least, then have fun and get the Vee!

Because everytime i drive the willy something breaks! It's cursed!

I'm still a student, 21. So property isn't an issue. I already have my own place! The Vee is just for fun, probably only have it for a year. I'm just bored basically. But it's not as tho i'll be able to really drive the clio till next yr, the weather is closing in and the snow will be here dec/jan time.

Lots to think about. I've never been the sensble type. Had the 172 at 19. So things are possible.

hmmm, difficult Ali, I've been in an identical position and unfortunately decided against the Vee after driving one, too impractical for me, but if I was free and single again I'd probably have gone for it. I'd go with taylor "f**k it do it, if it doesnt work sell it... you only live once"

Sell now. Buy a car for winter. Then in March look at a V.

I would do it, I think you should definately induldge in the finest things in life before cirsumstances chnage like being a responsible adult :|

Your still young and single and tbh unless you dont have a garrage there is no reason not to buy it really??

lol. My old man's got an R32 in Red, My bro picked his R32 up in Grey on sat. LOL. And one of my best mates has a DC5!

If you can afford it without leaving yourself tight for cash each month I would go for it as like you say your only young and if something comes up you could always sell it on and not loose too much money :)

I'm too sensible to give you much advice lol - your 172 is lovely and it'd be a shame to sell it, but for a Vee....

Hard decision, IMO property is more important and is the ONLY real purchase you're not going to lose money on, but if you're happy with the property you've got and have the spare cash to indulge yourself with a bling car, then why not? Unfortunately my priorities are paying the mortgage on a fookin big house so a nicer car has to wait for me, so I wouldn't get the Vee. But your circumstances are totally different...

That's not really been much help now has it?

I wish i was in your situation Ali! Just having the choice of getting a Vee makes me dribble. Very good insurance quote for being 21 who is that with if u dont mind me asking?

if i was you Ali, i would sell the willy asap and bank the money. I would thne strip the bus to standard and get selling the items stripped. Bank the cash off that.

I would wait till april approx next year then get a vee.

With the 6 month wait i would bank some cash each month. at least £200 quid a month so i would have saved up a bit to add to the cash from the willy, the parts and when you sold the bus.

If you would be stretched financially with the vee with loan etc, you need to ensure you can not only cover runnig it/maintence, but still be putting a reasonable lump aside each monht for extra bills that you don't realsie etc.

Someone said to me a little while ago "You're a long time dead mate, if it feels right...do it...if it doesn't, don't." That's what made me buy my 172...and I love it! (Now it's working properly! ;) )

Maybe wait for the Vee 'til the spring though! :evil:
