What to do

Basically a few weeks back I managed to knackered my engine on the 182 - my fault and regret not checking oil etc etc. Got another engine off pistonheads for £450 cash (apparently a 40K one? who knows), then car went off to one of my mates who in fact worked at the renault garage I got the car from 4 years ago. I was happy after a month without the car to get a call to say its all done. He did mention a ticking noise so I was worried instantly. After reading up on it I realised it was the dephaser pulley which wasn't replace in the rebuild - only the cambelt, waterpump and clutch were also replaced whilst the engine was out. I had booked the clio in for the pulley to be replaced etc etc, sadly though the other day my car cut out without any warning on the by-pass and I was stranded omce again . I had a renault specialist come look at the car as it wouldn't even tick over, he basically said it sounds very serious -by this stage I wanted to cry as the car has served me well for 4 years until I decided to ignore the oil light.

Now i'm faced with a clio with a brand new clutch, new brakes, good condition but won't move.

What do I do ??

sell as is? what would I get ?£1500

fix it again ? how much is a engine ?

Anyone know someone in the Tunbridge Wells area that can help me?

I adore the 182 and apart of me is thinking sod it keep fixing it, but also i'm thinking sell...

Any help would be much appreciated

I think you would struggle to get £1500, Your looking at the 1k mark, Either break it for parts or fix it and enjoy.

I wouldn't make any decision until you get a proper assessment by a garage and find out whats wrong with it!
Then go from there

get it assesd properly by a decent well recommened specialist. may be something very simple

You're in balls deep now. After spending all that money, i'd just get it sorted once and for all.

The only way you'll get good money back is to break it yourself, and strip it down to the last nut and bolt. ITs a complete pain in the ass, for every ten enquiries you get you'll sell one part and by the end of it you will never want to see another clio as long as you live.

If you're not worried about the money, list it on ebay as a non runner and see what heppens.

last broken 182 i payed 1400 for theres one on ebay at the mo no oil in engine and bang 1400 quid no bids.
sounds like timing may have slipped? did it start or turn over and over.

lol, you have mastertechs on your doorstep. For peice of mind I would take it there...

May cost a bit more but you will be OTR again!

why didn't you have the cambelt etc all replaced whilst the engine was out?

I read it as he did have the cambelt replaced just not the dephaser.
