What to do?

  Clio Sport 182
Okay so I currently have a Clio 182 and there are numerous things wrong with it. It is going to cost around £1200 in order to get it all fixed. I am wondering if A. I should repair it and get it back on the road. B. Just repair it so it passes the MOT and then sell it on. C. Buy a newer Clio 182 with a few mods hoping it will make a difference or D. Sell it and go for a 197 ... Need opinions guys?

Exhaust system needs replacing, all the bushes have gone, brake pads and callipers needed on the rear.

Get it mended. Parts are cheap as chips and there are always cars breaking.

probably no more hassle then selling yours and finding a suitable replacement.

Theres a considerable amount more + labour it does come to that amount. Don't know whether to go for it and just spend the money or sell it and get a 1.4 or a 1.6 or something

Brakes and exhaust you could do yourself mate? Majority of bushes could be done DIY easily too

if it needs fully rebushing why not take advantage of the situation and polybush the lot for 300 ish quid, new disks and pads for rear is 100 ish (G 172 on this forum will see you right) and as someone has already said, youll grab a stainless system on here for cheap money.
Then, using a small portion of the money you have saved by doing all this yourself, refresh your dampers , then you will have a bang tidy motor that drives like new :)

You can't all say do it yourself - some people simply can't or won't do it themselves.

Still shouldn't be £1200 though

Keep it and sort it

Those are wear and tear items and you could get those bits sorted for a lot less then you've been quoted

Where are you in the country? one of specialists on here will see you right or maybe even a local member would help out if you're struggling

Source some second hand rear calipers or get yours refurbed if not your daily, and an exhaust off here- breakers in Traders section or market place

How long would you keep it for if repaired?

If 24 months or more I'd get it all done properly, new stainless exhaust etc. depends how much you wanna invest in it. I had some similar choices to make but knew I wanted to keep it for a lot longer so paid out and it's all sweet now :)

This. My car is a keeper by default now. Purely because I can't justify selling something that has cost me equal to the sum I payed for it lol! (some mods too though)
