Some of them are a bit hopefull @ beating a 172 lol.

But they make a fair point about the quality, I cant see my clio being in good nick in 14 years..

I cant see an 04 VW being around in 14 years either. They were well built back in the days of the Mk1 and Mk2 but recent models have been poor yet they still cost a bomb.


Anyway I have had 8 cars and the longest Ive kept one is 14 months let alone 14 years so who cares!!!

Besides I am currently borrowing a 14/15 year old 950cc Pug 205 whilst waiting for my 182 and that sure as hell didnt cost as much as a Golf when new yet its stood the test of time!!!

200 brake 2.0 turbo standard. Plenty of potential there. I think its on 18s too!

My old Mark 2 16v Gti was Fiesta RS Turbo speed but miles off my Williams. My mate has a 8v and its miles of the Williams and Girlfriends VTS. Great cars tho.

I do have one mate with a low pressure Turbo conversion on his mk2 16v Gti. It fairly shifts but has 170bhp on the same road mine got 163bhp so who knows. I cannot remeber the weight of them.

i think the 172s are a lot faster than most golfs its all about the power to weight ratio and there isnt much weight in a clio

who cares about build quality,i think its fair to say they have a few niggles here and there but otherwise better than many over rated motors! The clio 182 have a 12 or is it 14 yrs corrosion warranty now as well, besides who plans to keep it that long anyways? bottom line its one of the fastest hot hatches and good value for money!

the 16v is also a mid 80s design car.
plus i dont think many clittos will be around in
14 years time.

Not too sure they can say this , I have two fine examples of clittos that are a similar age..........

besides which - being a mid 80 car - wouldnt that make em nearer 20 years old ??
