what will i gain from lowering

as above what will i gain handaling wise if i go 40mm or 60mm what is the best set up?

Hi i have lowered my 02 172 sport of 40mm apex springs and also treated it to a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres now the car handles so well its untrue. The springs have made such a difference to be honest but im sure the tyres are helping to. I had a little tear up with a sccoby on Sunday on some back lanes from Goodwood show and he was tailing back due to me being able to slam it into bends with no worries. He was on my a#se in the straights but he was on standard suspension on a 54 reg WRX and he said to me at the next set of traffice lights he put his window down and said that thing is rapid through the bends and looks tidy through them too no twitching nothing. He was supprised it was just springs and nothing else. So i would highly recommend lowering and a good set of rubber.

cheers i have just paid out for eagle f1's so the rubber is allready their has it affectid the drive? ie has it made it realy bumpy or is it still ok?
