gearbox leaking from seals also difficult to change gear could be shot at and need lots spending on parts would u get it booked in to get fixed or would u buy a second hand one for £250 with 16000 miles mine has done 55000 on o2 plate also wot kinda money would i be looking at changing it

there was another post tonight saying about cost of a gearbox swap...

... i think edde said it would take at least 7 hours labour...

How much it it leaking?

I'd personaly if I were you take the gearbox off stick a second hand one on strip yours down or get a place to strip and fix it and keep it for spare.

7 hours or so labout also you want new decient gearbox fluid so that £40 or so plus you want a new clitch since with it off might as well chnage it so that £80.

quiet a bit wen i had it on the ramp looks like two places really one on the bottom looks like gear linkage it pushes upwards the other is right up inside where u cant get to hard really to pin point had a phone about for a quote told me could be something inside damaged causing it to do this so hard to get a price... one night it leaked the size of a pint glass bottom

the bottom of the linkage leaks from factory, nothing to worry about there

the only problem with 2nd hand boxes is you don't know their history, and at 7hrs to take the thing back out after you've spent 7hrs putting it in, it can get enpensive!

its from a cs moderator Adamhodg covering 17000 miles from a 04 plate asked him why it has been taken out no answer as such sounds ok tho yes got a black diamond sports clutch comin tomorrow its more than just a little leak took the thing to renault today they said it was relly bad but 4 £60 an hour i didnt stay long
