Whats better.......

  Nothing at the mo :(
This is based on a car being stationary on a drive way for a few years

A( Start it once a week

B) never start it until i have to use it..

By whats best i mean whats best for the engine

Also the car will still be serviced once a year at a garage around the corner.

If its intended to be used then once a week, or if you can, a good blast up and down the motorway for half an hour to keep things going

Driving on the road will not be possible

It will hopefully be of road with no tax and laid up insurnace

Well *il keep it short*

Me and gf move into our new flat 1st july. Due to funds atm and my current loan we cant afford to run 2 cars.. She needs hers for work and i don't cause its walking distance

I was gonna chop in my car for a cheaper one to run.. and also have some cash to pay of some CC's

My car is currently up for sale now and tax ends this month..

I have decided that if it dont sell im gona store it on the gf's parents grass driveway *next to her proper one.. you cant get the car out unless you do about 20 million forwards and backs lol*

Then in 1 year or so when we are on our feet and have some money then i will reinsure it properly and tax it :)

EDIT

Also main reason i have my loan in the first place is cause of the clio 182.. If i just trade it in for something alot cheaper it defeats the object of my loan in the first place and il have nothing to show for it

Ah right, if the Clios to be stored outside id give it a damn good clean inside and out and invest in a really decent car cover and if you can a trickle charger (if you felt it was a safe enough place)

Also, if it is going to sit for a good length of time when you do start it, run it for 15-20 mins and let the oil temp get up.

It might be an idea to move the car a couple of feet whilst doing this to make sure no flat spots develop in the tyres

Just don't start and stop it everyday for like 20 seconds a pop. That's what the ZR has been doing the past few weeks and it really needs a good run out to clear up, but, that's not my problem as of sometime today.

il probably run it for about 15 every 2 weeks or so when im up there :)

But then again. a few people have told me that it will do more damage then good and better to just leave it :S

when i had a golf gti, i had it off the road for about 8months, the best thing to do is leave the handbrake off to stop the rear brakes sticking and seizing. also you need to drive it now and again otherwise the front brakes will seize.

You should also take it for a spin for 20mins now and again to prevent the battery going flat, and keep circulating the oil and coolant around.

I no this as i didnt do this and had to get new pads on my golf.lol.

think like pads falling apart. disc's getting rusty... im not to fussed about

like i keep saying.. it wont be able to go on the road as it wont be taxed, or insured for the road

Couldn't have said it better myself. Oh and decent custom cover would be around £200. Well worth it if you're into your detailing and hate scratches which cheap covers will inflict.

C) Sell the car

It is up for sale atm. but if it dont sell by the end of the month then it will be put on the drive

Another reason i dont wanna sell it is because i know its running perfect, not 1 fault. its kept in good condition and low mileage at 30k

I dont wanna sell. then in a year buy another 182 and turns out to have problem after problem

Not running a car for a couple of years is not a good idea but if you can't sell it
I would -
Not car cover it as it would discolour and scratch the paint with wind movement.
Put all 4 corners on axle stands. Leave handbrake off.
Wedge the clutch open, or that will stick, with a peice of wood.
Petrol would go off in a few months, so leave as little as possible in the tank.
Start the engine once a month and run for about 15mins, at least till the electric fan comes on. top up with a couple of litres petrol when necessary.

I may do it this way..

But someone i spoke to said if u put it on axle stands it will ruin the shocks?

Theres no ideal way off storing it for 2 years. If you have 4 spare wheels that don't matter much use them and store your good uns.
