right, my car is a 2004 1.2 16v dynamique in black 3 door,

its on just about 22k

parkers guide says:

Original Price£9,145Franchised Dealer£6,045Independent Dealer£5,655Private Good £4,785Private Poor £3,785Part Exchange£4,305

but its been in an accident, not sure if its cat c or d, or if its either??

basically i was stopped at some traffic lights and got hit, needed the boot floor remoulding, new rear bumper and some other parts, would that class it as a cat c or d??

help please!

I don't reckon the accident would show up unless the car was written off, which I assume it wasn't.
I would say its worth about £4k going by the prices currently on autotrader.

cat c is worse, if your in any doubt, ring your ins company & ask them. I thnk your fine though.

Details here, 12th post down - here.

When someone went up the back of you I assume their insurance company paid for the repair or they did out of their own pocket.
If it had been a write off be it cat a, b, c or d you wouldnt have got the car back they would have just given you its value, you may however be able to buy the car back off the insurance company, but this clearly wasnt the case.

Nicked from another thread

Category A

A vehicle which should have been totally crushed, including all its spare parts.

Category B

A vehicle from which spare parts may be salvaged, but the bodyshell should have been crushed and the car should never return to the road.

Category C

An extensively damaged vehicle which the insurer has decided not to repair, but which could be repaired and returned to the road.

Category D

A damaged vehicle which the insurer has decided not to repair, but which could be repaired and returned to the road.

Category F

A vehicle damaged by fire, which the insurer has decided not to repair.

Theft

These vehicles have not been recovered and ownership rests with the insurer who made the total loss payment. They are able to repossess the car as soon as it is identified, even if it has been bought innocently.

Vehicles categorised as A, B or C require a VIC test before the DVLA will issue a new registration document. This will then be noted on the V5C

Wont have nothing against the car regards the crash mate!! Had exactly the same happen to me and did have nothing!!

I got £2500 from a ford dealer for a 1.2 8v 2001 authentique, last year so i think your looking at atleast £3500!!

thanks for all the info people, makes me feel better!

i thought it would be worth way more than £3.5k to be honest, I've had it for about 9 months now, and the dealer i got it from wanted £6300 for it!

never paid that like but...

  Breaking A 172 Replica
I just sold my 1.2 dynamique in black 02 plate 50k on clock for 3350. I had 27 people call up about it and 15 of those were desperate to arrange viewing. I think I could have got at least 3.5k for it.

You are looking at 4.5 on autotrader me thinks.

part chop would be easier though, gonna go to the garage on tuesday i think and see what they value my car at, and the condition of the one i want.
the garage is like a small one run by one bloke, will thish affect how much they will part chop my car for?

Make sure your cars really clean inside & outside when you take it to the dealers, have all of the paperwork with you too.

You will get more selling it privately. Expect a low price then talk him up. He will probably offer you £3k! If he offers you a high trade in price your probably paying over the odds for the new one as he will of stuck it on the other end.
A certain Renault garage offered me a mint trade in on a 197, I wonder why!

Don't mention it, get cleannig it (or pay for it to be done) apart from what he offers you for yours, see what he'll take off the car you want to part ex for. If it's not working for you walk away & go elsewhere.

you'll probably get more by putting it to standard and selling the mods, then selling the car.

generally mods dont make any more value to a car.

Well thats what i cant decide..i might try and sell it as it is.
If not i will have to get some standard alloys from somewhere, take the tints off, take off induction kit, change rear lights.etc

Any guesses on prices?

i would leave the tints, depedning what they are, put standard lights on, and then advertise it, but when people show interest say you will put it back to standard of they want you to.

Thats what i was thinking..cos i got the standard lights and air box.the rear tints are dark but the fronts are only slight.
