*flame suit on*

From what ive seen the Cup actually has MORE bhp than a 172

At the Midlands RR day a modified 172 pulled mailto:156bhp@wheels i ve"> 156bhp @ wheels i ve seen this ame car pull mailto:184bhp@fly"> 184bhp @ fly on different rollers) and a std cup pulled mailto:166bhp@wheels"> 166bhp @ wheels

Cup hasnt got "the toys" its 3mm lower, and the car is lighter plus it has a wider track

Oh yeah and its a bit cheaper too

The Cup is bench tested, the normal 172 isnt. This would mean the Cup will have more reliable figures from car to car.

Im not sure of all the details but the suspension and brakes have minor differences (it also has no abs). The cup also weighs 80kg less and has different seats with no airbags in them and standard equipment is also less.

From driving the Cup it has quite a bit more straighline shove, its faster round the corners too but no more enjoyable.

Cup= 87 Kg less, no ABS, no CD Changer, no leather/alcantra, no spare, thinner glass, no heat reflective windscreen, no air con, no xenon headlights, no headlight washers.

does have-Blue paint, different alloys, different rear spoiler, front lip spoiler, 3 mm lower, slightly wider track.

think thats everything! Depsite some stuff u may hear both enginers are the same with just a ? over the ECU.

But you forgot to mention the most important factor.

The CUP is far better, almost better than a VTS;)

Both fantastic cars..depends what you want... paddymph said it perfectly. The cup hasnt got the extras and is cheaper, the 172 has the lot.

Would have loved a cup, for the nice colour/wheels but, given the chioce, much pefer the extras on the 172 IMO ;)
