So in the picture below what are the two circled bits, and would it be ok to cover them?

haha i hope so, as ive wrapped mine in carbon fibre today... the only thing i could think of was that the holes are for the roof and lining to breath (as in prevent condensation), or to keep the bulbs cool...

I have found out that the one on the right is definatly todo with the climate control, i unplugged it and the auto control button went to pot.
One on the left is some thing to do with a hands free kit that some renaults get.

Front facing one is the climate control interior temp sensor, no fan involved in the 182 they went to a straight thermistor. The other one is just a grill where the mic for the factory handfree kit is fitted. So one yes the other maybeish.

when i do it, it has like erm, drippy marks on it, not drips but sorta. then i sand it down as they say with the different grades, and then it jsut ruins it even more and goes cloudy and i will never get it back to as shiney as it was, even though it is far smoother.
help?

To carbon fibre my way (as the pics above show my finished product)...
Sand item, lay a layer of resin, wait till tacky to the touch, lay carbon, let dry.
Then.. apply resin, leave to dry, sand with 240, apply resin, leave to dry, sand with 240... do this until you have a uniform amount over the carbon and is smooth.
then smooth with 400 wet'n'dry, untill ALL imperfections are gone..., then smooth with 800, the item will be smooth as hell, but dull. Then spray clear coat laquer, halfords stuff will do on interior stuff, and smooth with wet 800 between coats. 3-4 coats later leave to fully cure, then attact with rubbing compound till its super smooth, then polish with autoglym high resin polish, which will leave the finished product like glass...

In the vid he tapes down the excess with masking tape. what did he do with this on the final, finished item?

Around the edges when the carbon is hard and set, attact with a sander, and smooth everything off upto the edge...

I use a detail sander with 80 grit for this, but you can hand sand easily.

Can also stanley off the excess, but it will blunt the blades very quickly
