Whats this for?

Today I have been putting in a 182 half leather drivers seat. I did the rest of the interior without any problems, but the drivers seat is different. There is another wire which wasnt on the passengers seat and I dont know what it does or what it is for. It attaches on the seat runners underneath the seatbelt pretensioner. It is like a little switch but I am not sure what way it is supposed to be!

Heres a pic.

Has anyone any ideas.. Ive looked in my haynes manual and still cant find the answer..

right! should it be in the on or off position? as in when I press the little metal arm it clicks on and off.. or it seems like that what it is doing. I didnt realise it was there so went to lift the seat off and it snapped off the bit of plastic which is riveted to the seat frame.

easy to sort or not?

No worries, I just re-connected the battery and started car! no airbag or other error lights so all good! Hopefully it wont cause any problems!

yeah, the seatbelt light was on. so I plugged the belt in and it went off!

Its the seat position switch, it tells the airbag computer how close your sitting to the wheel so it decideds how to set the drivers airbag off in the event of a crash. You want that in properly.

So what happened to you! You have just done what you have critized other people for doing!! You should have just said nothing instead of talking out your ass, and writing something on my thread which had nothing to do with the question I was asking!!!!!!!

Ah I see, yeh the passenger airbag isn't dual stage so it doesn't need one.

thats worrying dont remember plugging one of these in fitting the rear loom on mine
will have to have a gander at that

that will be becoz it has jack sh1t to do with the air bag system if u unscrew the casing on your seat belt buckle you will c that its for the drivers seat belt indicator light on dash and that annoyng noise, think u will find that u have left the old cable on plus the 1 that came with your new seat just trace it back to seat base and chuck it away,,,,and im talking out my ass !!!!

Thank you...you should have just said this first instead of your first post!! Anyway, the wire didnt come on my new seat, there was only a thin black wire the thick orange wire containing a brown and blue wire which were cut so I had to put on a new connector. The new seats didnt come with a seatbelt clip so I didnt bother disconnecting the pretensioner wires and just screwed it into the new seat. Im not sure what you are saying is right.. as this wire shown in the photos is riveted onto the seat sub-frame!

Thanks for your help, but at the time when I posted that you didnt offer any help. you just complained about what other people were saying!

As both your answers to my questions are completely different I think I might just call in to Renault and ask them.. Will let you know!

Are you a moron or just blind? You can plainly see in this picture that that switch and the seatbelt warning are on two completely different cables! And the seatbelt warning switch is internal to the buckle.
