I prefer core 2 duo myself..

Its average spec at best. And stick with XP its tried/tested and works well.. vista is all kinds of crap.

I would go the extra way and get core 2 duo, much better. Or if, like me get quad core (quick as fudge), but for home use theres no need at all (I game and video edit). But that set up will do you fine for general use. If your planning on running Vista maybe add another 1 or 2 gb's or ram, but 2gb will still be fine. I still run XP, its a legend, but if you feel like you'll get XP then want to upgrade, get Vista. Yes Vista still has bugs and doesnt run as well as XP, but XP will soon be outdated and Vista. For home use it will do you fine. And for that price its not bad. However always spend as much you can, its always better to be happy with your spec when you buy it, then thinking later on about upgrades that are a hassle and are sometimes expensive.
