whats this wire for?

i got a set of ATE original pads for my clio 02 1.2 and was wondering if anyone knows why there is a wire included with them. i cant get a pic up, but it has a metal end and then a squared off plastic bit at the other end.

Anyone know?

Its for the pad wear indicators.

i doubt your car has wear indication fitted, just ignore the wire if the car currently doesn't have one

yeah. There is nothing to actually connect it to. Just had a look.

The Mk2 cars don't use them.

The pads fit a load of other cars some of which use the wires (or can) to tell when the brakes are worn.
