Wheel Cleaning Question

  titanic killer
When cleaning your wheels is there any other way of cleaning them without wetting your brake discs as soon as you've cleaned the wheels and go for a drive all the rust comes off the disc and sticks to the insides of the rims?
The only way ive found is to take the wheels off when clening but this get a bit time consuming?
Any other options welcome

When doing a wheels of job I use plastic bags over the discs.

Normal washing, wash and dry, lap round the block, then wipe round with a dry microfiber inside to remove the mess it leaves again.

With My white wheels, i take them off when i clean the car. Its just easier! lol

My silver wheels, i just leave them on and don't bother with the backs.
