Wheel Sizes Help!

I dont want to keep being a pain and posting links and asking people if they will fit my car. But how can I tell for myself if wheels will fit my car. Hints tips about what all the numbers mean like the offset etc.

MOST 100PCD's will fit

I've had two different makes of 17's on car, both fine, haven't even got a clue what offsets they are and feels fine at 120mph!

205/40/17

205 - Width of wheel
40 - Width (profile) of tyre from rim to top of tyre
17 - Size of wheel

R - Radial
H, Y, S, Z etc.. - Speed rating

4x100 is the PCD - Pitch, Circle, Diameter - Basically the inner hub/ bolts spacing

38, 42 etc is the Offset which is how far the wheel sticks out from the vehicle.

So if I wanted some 15inch alloys..what sort of sizes would fit in. Like between what and what.

7x15 Et35 4x100..

Yes.

Id get 185/55/15, needs to be 4x100, offset anywhere from 35-42 I would imagine.
