well................................

In the two months of owning it:

Broken down three times

Seen the AA twice

Towed to the dealers once by the AA

Spedo is 160mph plus madness

Dodgy rear brake

Green shift light stays

Boot problem has been sorted

Dodgy starter motor at first

Never starts when its hot

Didnt have a spare key, waited two months for one

Been back to the dealers 5 times

unlocks itself

Is more but cant remeber of the top of my head

not bad eh?????

That is really bad.. surely that is classed as faulty goods!!

Id say u stand a good chance of a deal on a new one (if u were willing to have another one!)

so far so good for me

1800 miles and not a problem touch wood

had the odd rattle but sorted them out in like 10 minutes.. fine now.

value for money id recommend one for sure.

Ive never heard of a new car have so many problems as that.. ( my mini went back 6 times in a year for electrical trouble and rattles to)..

in the states, there is a thing called the lemon law. (vheck this site http://www.myaudittsucks.com/http://www.myaudittsucks.com/)

if a new car returns to dealer for a certain number of days on a certain number of times then the customer is entitled to a new replacement car.

dunno if there is any kinda of similar law here, but

a girl who works for me bought a new mini bout 2 years ago, it returned to the dealer 7 times in 6 months, she wrote to bmw and they replaced her mini one with a brand new mini cooper!!!

  don't

id print that list off, send it 2 renault uk, or ring them and demand everything sorted on the phone that second

say u want full refund or a new 182 as u no longer want the current car due to soo many problems

see what theyll do first, if they refuse, then go citizins advice

Did you pay for it or is it on reno finance? Either way, you should be able to hand it back as it plainly a problem car.

Its easier to hand back with finance iirc, but the there is only so much you should take which ever way you paid

I Had a 172 that went in to the dealers 12 timesin the first year, never ever found the problem, eventually i managed to get a good deal on the 182, this was before the 182 even come out, so was pretty good. Took alot of arguing, eventually you could say they gave me a full refund for the 172 and i paid the 15k for the 182, which ever way you look at it its a good deal the 172 had 13000 miles on the clock.

legally under the sale of goods act 1979 you can reject the goods if they are not fit for thier purpose intended and at the time of purchase were not of satisfactory quality and free from minor defects.

You can reject the car as this would be a breach of warranty entitling you to a full refund or exchange as you see fit. As long as the time period of ownership is classed as a reasonable period of time otherwise you will be deemed to have "accepted" the car with its problems. Eg. if youve had if for less than Id say a few months. Probably between 2-3 youll be fine.

And yes im a legal eagle. ;) <SCRIPT language=javascript>

Also, I believe if the car is less than 6 months old, it is now upto the dealer to prove there were no faults from new, rather than for you to prove there are faults.
I managed to get my dealer to change a faulty Megane Hatch back in March after 7 months use because of various problems. It was on RFS finance though so the dealer cleared the finance and we started fresh. Since sold that too and got my Cup:).
Renault UK however were not really interested in any of the issues and wouldnt replace it themselves. I got the feeling that unless the problems were safety related they didnt really want to know - but that was just my feeling. It could well be different in other cases.

If the car was on finance u could hand it back. my mate had a punto hgt and in the first year was in the garage total of 3 month... he just refused to pay for it any more..

not tohealthy for your credit rating though

Sounds like you should reject this car mate.

I had many problems with a BMW I bought about 5 years ago, from day 1 it was just a lemon. After 6 months of pi$$ing about, going to and from the dealer BMW were good enough to replace this car with a brand new one.
