where has 8gb gone on 360

how have MS got away with advertising a 20gb drive when you only end up with 12gb from the start ??

A large portion is for the OS and software which runs on there, and an even larger amount is for developers to use to cache data as the hard drive is quick it works out quicker for them to dump a lot of data to the hard drive.

I did have the exact amounts somewhere, but can't find them now.

heard if you delete everything you can get 1gb back so there is still 7gb missing.

Fecking hell. And I thought that 47MB left from my 52MB hard drive running MS-DOS 5 was bad enough...

WTF was MSoft thinking anyway - putting a 20GB into a new-gen console???

thats the bloody x-box for ya they have cut back to much on the console and in a years time people with either buy an updated version of it or have to buy upgrades for it. it going to date far to quick for my likeing

Cost cutting, they make a big enough loss on each console as it is.

They have a HD DVD drive in the pipeline too. Cost and time restraints prevented it launching with one.
