Where is the Dip Stick on a 182

I thought Id check the oil in my 182, Ive had it for 3 weeks so I just wanted to make sure it looked ok. I just couldnt see the dipstick anywhere, Ive even checked the manual and it doesnt include the 2.0 ltr engine? What the f*** is going on. Help...

just behind the radiator its low down under some pipes, try not to burn your self

Its a real ass to get to if it is like the 172 .

Just look at the trip screen on start up. "Oil Ok" is good enough for me!

I admit it is a sod to find.Look infront of the engine block infront of the cover,its kind of buried down much lower than normal but it is there.Once located its a pain to get to especially if you have big hands like me.

My advice in NOT to rely on the in car oil indicator... Cos they have been known to fail with engine failure following close behind...!!

The ONLY way to check your oil level Correctly is by using the Dipstick..

Just got in after a quick spin in the car, thanks for all the replies. It looks as though it was an after thought taking into account where its located. As someone above said I would never take the oil indicator as being correct. Luckily the car had been in the drive for a couple of hour so it was quite cool but if the engine is hot it must be a right job. Im in the automotive industry and Renault could have easily exdended the filler tube to make it easier to get to.

Next question; I cant remember seeing the Oil filler cap either?

Mat, the oil filler cap is under the flap on the silver pastic trim covering the engine.

It can be quite firm in releasing it.

ehehe yes iv tryed to remove it afew times now but it always seems like its going to snap/break so i dont pull it any harder and leave it

no such problems with mine.the location is explained in the renaultsport manual I think, did you not get one?

Ive looked behind the steering wheel for mine but no joy...?? Hehe...ahh...and relax...
